Was excited to try this place, cool ambience at first. Once we were seated the music was just too loud, the food was very mid for the $175 price for two people. Wouldn’t recommend, there are many other restaurants in Houston that are worth the time.

Terrific restaurant, incredible food. Second to none staff. Every single team member was extremely attentive and mindful of our special date.

This is my new favorite sushi spot. Right in the heart of River Oaks District Shopping Center. I came for their happy hour which is 3-6p weekdays. Totally worth it. I tried the miso soup, spicy edamame, avocado roll & vegan maki roll. I like the bar set up, very warm lighting and intimate but ample room for seating. It wasn’t too busy around 5p but it was a Monday. Highly suggest coming here for a cute first date or very special occasion like birthday or anniversary. I would say it’s more for the adult grown and older crowd but if you want to bring your family, they will definitely take care of you.

Everything started great, sushi was super fresh and the chef was really nice, he even came out to serve us personally. My boyfriend and I waited a bit long to get attention at first, but I didn’t mind since it was Veterans Day and maybe a bit busy.
I actually chose Azumi because of their Veterans Day offer, wanted my boyfriend to enjoy his day. Everything was perfect until the check came..they automatically added 20% gratuity even though it was just the two of us. When I asked, the server said it’s required because it’s Veterans Day (which made no sense). I asked her to show me where it says that, and then a different lady came back with a new check without the gratuity.
As someone who’s been a server for 8 years, I always tip at least 20% for good service, and we did. But being told it’s “required” just felt dishonest. If you’re giving 50% off for Veterans Day, don’t add surprise fees or try to mislead people. The food and chef were great, but that part really ruined the experience.
Don’t screw people over.. they might be okay paying it once, but they’ll never return.

The Manager Toufik Zdaa always treat us right! He served 2 fried amaebi heads for 1 amaebi order while the restaurant normally doesn't fry amaebi heads, which is unforgivable for Japanese like myself. Your chef should allow frying amaebi heads because amaebi should always accompany the head. Also, the best Veteran's Day deal ever: 50% off on everything, which is unheard of. Your restaurant know how to appreciate veterans. Please continue the tradition in the future veteran's day. Thank you very much. It was the best veteran's day which is also my birthday and wedding anniversary with my husband, who is a guld war beteran. definitly coming back! I am from Japan and have very high standard on Japanese restaurant in Houston, but your restaurant is definitely on my best list and recommend to all my friends!

This place is terrible! The service was soooo bad at the bar and the patio.

The bartenders on Sunday 10/26/2025 were both rude and not friendly at all. We just asked the person next to us about the menu options since they neither could be bothered with us.

We needed to be in and out quickly and the staff accommodated us very well at the bar. Food was fantastic and everyone from the moment we walked in to the moment we left had good vibes. Will be back soon for a proper sit down dinner

Made reservations for my bday. Got to the restaurant on time and my table for 5 still wasn't ready after 20 minutes. Food was just ok. Nothing to sneeze at.

Happy Hour was 20/10 and I love that it’s daily from 3-6. The lychee martini was really good.

I made a lunch reservation at Azumi almost three weeks in advance for Thursday, October 2nd. A few days before, I received a cancellation notice not by me, but from the restaurant. When I called to ask what happened, the manager told me my reservation had been canceled because they host a “Thursday Happy Hour” starting at 3 p.m., and sometimes people book lunch and stay through the afternoon.

That explanation was ridiculous. My reservation was squarely during lunch hours, well before happy hour even begins. I made it clear to her that I wasn’t coming for $2 drinks or social media hype I don’t care about the restaurant being “trendy.” I was coming for lunch, on my own, for my own personal purposes. But instead of listening, she doubled down with an attitude that felt completely dismissive and condescending.

She explained that because my reservation was for one person at the bar, they went ahead and canceled it. Excuse me? That’s not hospitality — that’s discrimination against solo diners. I dine alone frequently and often sit at the bar with my laptop when I have downtime between meetings or before my social events. Her tone made it clear she assumed my reservation wasn’t “worth keeping,” and that was honestly the most insulting part.

I was told the general manager would reach out the following Monday (October 6th). It never happened. After multiple calls and emails, they reinstated my reservation, but by then, I wanted nothing to do with the place. I ended up canceling it myself — not because I couldn’t go, but because I refused to give my money to a business that treats people like that.

What’s even more frustrating is that I usually stop next door at Le Colonial to pass time in the area, and this time, I decided to finally try Azumi instead. That decision was a mistake. Between the poor communication, the judgmental attitude, and the dismissive reasoning, I’ve never dealt with such unprofessionalism from a restaurant that supposedly prides itself on fine dining.

There are plenty of establishments that actually value every guest, not just groups or people chasing viral happy hours. Azumi clearly doesn’t understand what real hospitality looks like.
