Love Love Love! I can appreciate the consistency with this place. Portions are always spot on. I eat probably once a week maybe more. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

I called Pho Huy today to place an order for a chicken pho (white meat) with extra limes, extra jalapeños, black sauce, and chili paste. Before I could even finish my order, the lady who answered the phone hung up on me. I called back, explained I was the previous caller trying to place an order, and she hung up again.
Luckily, I was only a couple minutes away, so I went in person. The same lady was at the front—an older, short, skinny woman with black hair. I told her I was the customer she hung up on twice. She looked at me and said, “What do you want?” I gave her my order and specifically said I wanted extra limes. I also told her I didn’t appreciate her being rude. She said my order would take about 5 minutes, so I sat down and waited.
When the order was ready, I asked to check the bag to make sure the extras were there. She told me everything was inside. I opened the bag and saw only two lime wedges. I politely asked for more. She told me extra limes were $1. I said that was fine and that I would pay with my card.
Instead of ringing it up, she handed me my receipt and told me to write $1 on the tip line as the “extra charge.” I told her that’s not the same as charging for an extra item—that’s a tip. I asked her to please ring it up properly, and she said she couldn’t because they “don’t normally charge for extras.” Then when I asked again for more limes, she laughed in my face and said “no.” Eventually she put two more limes in the bag.
As someone who works in the restaurant industry, this was extremely disappointing. Hanging up on customers, lying about charges, trying to push a “tip” instead of a real extra charge, and laughing in a customer’s face is unacceptable. That kind of behavior makes the business lose money and pushes people away when there are plenty of pho places in the area.
I didn’t have an issue paying for extra limes — I had an issue with the way the situation was handled. Please do better.
After going through several reviews, I can see there are multiple people with the same issue as me. Someone 3 weeks ago even said, “Phuong, the older lady, always has an attitude and tries to overcharge people.” It’s very true!!!! How is this lady still employed?? If she hates her job so much that she treats people like garbage, she should quit. Plain and simple.

We ordered a pick up order and my meat came completely frozen. I heated my broth for several minutes and poured it over not knowing the meat was frozen and my whole bowl turned frothy white. I ordered pho regularly in different spots in Houston and I have never had fully frozen solid meat sent home. We tried to call to fix this and they told us every restaurant sends frozen meat and it is normal and we heated it wrong. The only option was to buy another soup even tho we were willing to bring in our original order and show how frozen the meat was and foamy the broth was. Really disappointing way to handle an issue by convincing the customer that it’s normal when we order this meal regularly and have even ordered it from this restaurant before and it wasn’t frozen.

Food is great, well priced but the staff is so rude, they barely speak to you. I placed a pick up order on DoorDash and politely greeted them all they said was “show me your phone” bruh what?? You expect me to come back when you talk like this??

The best Pho I’ve ever had! Meat is tender and broth is full of flavor. The beef stew (#32) is also worth trying! It has a lot of beef and the stew is red and delicious (not for people with ulcers). The egg noodles are also really tasty and a bit firm compared to the rice noodles, definitely a great option if you are watching your carbohydrates.

The Combination Com Tam comes in a huge portion, and that's the only highlight. The porkchop was strangely overwhelmed with the taste of burnt charcoal, and the fried egg was overcooked. The rest was okay. Ordered a bowl of meatball to try out the broth but it was pretty bland. Foodwise there was nothing outstanding.
Service was okay. Came close to closing time but staff was still nice and helpful.

Great food
Unfortunately, it was my first time at a restaurant, and it was a bit unpleasant. I was with a group of girls, and one of the employees came up to tell us we had to get up because it was closing time. It was true that it was Sunday and around 9:00 p.m. I understand that everyone had to go home, but the way they told us to hurry up was very rude, and the waitress was even worse. I hope they're nicer in the future.

Restaurantji Recommends
Stopped by Phở Huy on Gessner for lunch great portion, flavorful broth, and tender meat. Service was fast and friendly, and there’s plenty of seating and parking nearby. Nice clean space, though décor is pretty basic. Solid, no-fuss spot I’ll be back!
