Platypus Brewing

Great little brewery that serves excellent craft beer and surprisingly good food. We come here every chance we get, especially since it's right in our neighborhood. The staff is generally friendly and welcoming, and even though I'm not a big beer head anymore, I still enjoy most of their offerings.

Their food menu is solid: they have wings, burgers, and more--but my favorite is the steak sandwich with fries. It never disappoints.The brewery itself is also a great place to hang out. The patio is huge, and they recently added covered lounge areas with heaters, which makes it comfortable year-round. There are TVs everywhere, and they show plenty of local games, including rugby. They used to support the Sabercats back when they were still around.

Overall, it's a reliable neighborhood brewery that's firmly in our regular rotation. You can also get their in cans to go if you want to!

Waitress was rude and looked to be arguing with drunk guests. Witnessed the staff taking shots together. Beer wasn’t good, but the food was. If you want a fun carefree environment, this is not the place. We felt uncomfortable and a bother to the staff.

Really nice spot for Australia enthusiasts and beer enjoyers alike. Good prices and selection plus tons of outdoor seating and parking. Service is great and hosts were constantly checking around. Don't forget to check out the upstairs speakeasy!

Strongly recommend the fish and chips, best I've had stateside. The flight ended up with some delicious options as well. Quintessential Houston stop.

Attended an event here and waiting for 25 minutes for a drink, food was cold and the wait staff seemed very nonchalant even appeared to be moving extremely slow as if under the influence. Our checks were wrong and our meals were also incorrect. The drink was really great but the customer service was not the best. Highly recommend customer service training, to help them move with a sense of urgency and focus on the customer!

My 1st time back in almost 6 years. I love the interior, much improved which makes the ambiance thay much better. The beers are excellent.
I love the fact that this brewery serves cocktails. The food is great but in my case, the stake was a little overcooked (got a medium instead of medium rare) still tasted great just not what I ordered. The service the night i went was slow mainly due to only 1 waitress and 1 bartender. The place was busy so they should had more attendants available. My experience there was very pleasant and will definitely comeback and will try their fish&chips.

Steak Night on Wednesday was very disappointing, the food lacked flavor. Additionally, the waitress lingered at our table waiting for a tip after we paid, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

Was in there on Saturday. Had just come from Japanese garden and had a bit of a thirst on me. The gentleman behind the bar Manning the tap system was exceedingly knowledgeable. It was so refreshing having a non-Hazy pale ale on tap. And then I did appreciate his adding his own touch to my second choice as I do and so enjoy West Coast ipas. He gave me a small sample of each and ultimately I chose one. But quite honestly either one would have been great. We'll definitely hit here again when I visit Houston the next time. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
