This place used to have a cheap ($20), badass breakfast buffet but it was stopped since this hotel was taken over by a new ownership group. I will not be going here again. I'd rather them increase the price instead of stopping it.
I'm from Houston so I'm not captive and can pick another buffet. I am going to the Downtown Hyatt from now on.

A birthday lunch celebration, the sliced brisket had good flavor but potato salad potatoes were big. Their desserts could be better. The restaurant didnt have many guests.

We stayed on Hilton for a convention, so thought this was very convenient. We made reservations, which was completely NOT needed as there was only 1 other table seated (also should have been a warning on a Sat night with a convention next door). We originally ordered 2 Filet Mignons but were told they had none, so ordered 2 NY strips and a ribeye. We waited 40 min before our waiter told us they had no NY strips. It was already late and we ended up ordering door dash. Wouldn't recommend.

We arrived in Houston late in the afternoon with no plans, had enjoyed a late lunch with a friend on the way. We wanted a good cocktail and simple dinner, but it was Saturday night. We found Rio Ranch and thought it might work, but were nervous about crowds when we saw how full the parking lot was. It's attached to a hotel, so I guess there was an event there as the restaurant was empty when we arrived. We did enjoy a delicious cocktail in the bar, with efficient and friendly service. We shared a dinner. The mashed potatoes, asparagus and gravy were very good, but the chicken-fried steak was so gristly we could barely easy 1/3 of it. What we could chew was tasty, but hardly worth the effort. The waiter apologized, but sometimes a cut of beef just hides its true nature.
Although the food was mostly satisfactory and the service was friendly, the value and pricing left a bit to be desired. The carving station attendant sliced off chunks of ham and prime rib the thickness of Texas Toast, all well in advance, so the meat was cool, if not cold. The scrambled eggs were old and hard, not fresh and fluffy. For the Easter Sunday buffet, our party of less than 4 was charged a "large party fee" of 20%. Even if that was a tip, all we got for that was a refill of our drinks. For a buffet, the customer waits on him/herself. Then they had the gall to charge tax on the meal and on the large party fee (tip). At least the place wasn't crowded. Probably won't be for a while.
The restaurant did not state on the Open Table site it was having a fixed menu for $80. The service was slow and somewhat non-responsive. My associate barfed her food up on the way home.
Not what it used to be. Medium steak was well done. Twice bake potato was half a baked potato with American cheese. Red fish was thin and dry. Way over priced for the quality of food.
My family hasn't been to the restaurant since covid. We were so happy to go back and totally enjoyed it.

Wings on Menu said crispy but turned out like rubber and the brisket was 80%fat. Worst BBQ I have had in Houston.

Dee and Mary Anne were the absolute sweetest to me and my friends that traveled from Minnesota to Houston. Southern hospitality at its finest

Ordered ribeye it was great. My wife ordered chicken fried steak it was pre-breaded crap. This is Texas make your chicken fry from scratch. Mashed potatoes were absolutely disgusting. Broccolini was burnt. Corn bread was good.Service was decent drinks were good. When you go to a Hilton you expect higher standards but maybe that's why we were the only table in here.
