very friendly staff but the portion is very small for the price. We ordered chicken katsu togo and 90% of the box is rice and about 5 small bits of chicken. even the cucumber side is in a small sauce container. Won't be going back

Food is ok but big portion. Some part of rice was undercooked and side of soup tastes weird to me. I was so excited to try the chicken rice during my vacation in Houston but I couldn't get 100% of experience because they messed up my order. I supposed to get one of the original sauce and one of ginger scallion sauce (purchased extra) but they gave me 2 of ginger scallion sauce. No chance for me to try the original way. sad face.

I can say their chicken rice is still better than some places I have tried in different cities.

Chicken was bland like hospital food. They missed part of our order. It's counter-serve and yet their checkout tip hustle starts at 18%. Raise your prices if you can't afford to pay your employees, but then again I wouldn't pay 18% higher prices for what I ate. Once was enough.

Had no clue Rooster and Rice & OhMyGogi! Joined forces.

The guy at the front counter was awesome, person-able, knowledgeable on the menu, and helped us out greatly. From start to finish!

I first had OhMyGogi! When they were just a taco truck driving around town and at local events like for HUG Tx2k. We absolution enjoyed everything we tried.

The Korean BBQ Street Tacos were just full of flavor as a must try item!
The sliders were our other favorite along with the quesadilla.

And Rooster & Rice is just as delicious, highly suggest for first timer to try the “cutlet” the crust and crunchiness is the way to go. Chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor for something so simple.

The only bad item worth noting is that seating inside is rather limited. (See pic) it’s VERY small, 4-5 seats at a bar counter top. So if you plan to sit down, you’ll have to sit outside to enjoy your hot meal.

But don’t let that stop you. We enjoyed it so much, we already went back for more today w the family. (Have to update the review with more pictures and videos of our food selections)

Definitely worth a stop and try out if your in the area.

Until next time.

Parking: Had a hard time finding a spot, but if you drive to the back or go around to the other side there are more spots.

Food is good but ask for less salt cause it can be VERY salty. The portions are relatively small. The Ginger scallion sauce was perfecttttt but way to salty.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rooster and Rice, and I must give a special shoutout to Jose, who made my experience truly outstanding. From the moment I walked in, Jose's welcoming demeanor set the tone for what turned out to be an excellent visit.

Jose, a big guy with glasses, was perfect from beginning to end. He greeted me with a warm smile and ensured I felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout my entire visit. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he provided excellent recommendations that made my meal even more enjoyable.

What really stood out about Jose was his genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. He was attentive without being intrusive, always checking in at the right moments to make sure everything was just right. His friendly and approachable manner made me feel like a valued guest, not just another customer.

The food at Rooster and Rice is fantastic, but it was Jose’s exceptional service that made my experience unforgettable. He clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the way he interacts with guests and goes above and beyond to ensure a positive dining experience.

Rooster & Rice offers a simple, unadorned take on classic Hainanese chicken rice. While the concept is promising, the execution left something to be desired.

The chicken, presumably their star ingredient, was unfortunately bland and lacked depth. The boiled preparation resulted in loose, underwhelming skin and meat that yearned for more flavor. The absence of spice on the chicken, rice, and cucumber further contributed to the overall lackluster experience. The accompanying Thai seasoning and chicken broth offered some respite, but ultimately couldn't salvage the dish.

While some may appreciate the minimalist approach, those who prefer bolder flavors and crave a bit of heat may be disappointed. The $14 price tag for such a basic meal also felt steep.

If you're seeking a simple, unseasoned chicken and rice dish, Rooster & Rice may suffice. However, for those who enjoy more robust flavors and spice, it might be best to explore other options.

Their signature dish is amazing. My husband is always craving their sauce! All the guests we took to Rooster&Rice love how tender and juicy their chicken is! They gave plenty of parking spaces too! Absolutely recommend to anyone hungry!!

Great spot. Good variety of classic Asian chicken foods and everything is fresh. Staff is really nice and helpful. Parking is easy and free, took my family there and got crispy chicken and rice. Cost effective also. Will be back for sure

Come on… the side sauces are so expensive and there is literally nothing in the side of it… this is rodiculous. This has happened multiple times every time I try and give this place another shot.

I like the food but why do they keep getting my order wrong?? I order the Original which comes with skin and every time I get home to eat it, I realize they gave me the Heights which is skinless. This happens every time what's the deal? Am I crazy?

Ordered online and asked for extra cilantro and extra skin and was given no cilantro or skin.Obviously the staff here can’t follow simple directions. Left super unsatisfied with my meal… thanks.

Underrated place. Hainanese chicken inspired dishes, looks like a lot of reviews were from people that didn't know what to expect. Flavorful rice, thick and savory broth, tender chicken, completed with their signature sauces. Really solid meal for the price, better than what I expected. A lot goes into preparing the dish right and they got it right.
