I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but this was a really poor experience that I feel management and other patrons should be aware of.
The wine, food, and atmosphere were really enjoyable, so it was extremely disappointing when the service was basically non-existent.
1) No one came to our table to take our food order. We had to walk up to the front desk to place our order with the host.
2) A waitress brought us a carafe of water with green slime floating in it. I had to bring it back to her (because she never came back to the table) and showed her. She never brought us any fresh water.
3) I tried to get that same waitresses attention to let her know the wine I selected was empty and she intentionally looked away from me and kept walking, pretending like she didn't see me.
4) I told a different waitress about the wine being out and she said she'd bring me something different but similar. I never received that glass of wine and had to ask for it to be removed from my bill.
5) I didn't even attempt to ask for a to-go box and got it myself from the cart by the kitchen.
The automatic 20% gratuity should have been paid to me for waiting on myself.

This correspondence serves as a formal declaration that I will not be patronizing your establishment ever again. My decision is final and based on the profoundly unacceptable managerial conduct and customer service experienced during my most recent event.
I am a well-known figure on social media platforms as @chefdeliceous, and I have a significant history with your venue, having successfully hosted two previous large-scale events here. Furthermore, I have dedicated time and promotional efforts, including numerous social media endorsements and videos, to drive external traffic directly to your establishment.
The events of November 5 were egregious. After successfully booking an event for 55 invited guests, effectively delivering significant and immediate revenue during a period of otherwise low traffic for your business, my party and I were subjected to unwarranted disrespect. Specifically, my team and I were aggressively targeted and confronted, culminating in an unfounded demand to pay an additional $750.00.
This incident, especially after pre-paying for services and tipping employees, demonstrates a complete failure in professional decorum and management oversight.
While my event provided a clear profit within the two hours of the reservation, the management's response showcased a critical deficiency in business judgment, prioritizing short-term gain through conflict over the long-term value of a repeat client and influential promoter.
As a business owner, scholar, and successful professional, I value mutual respect and clear transactional integrity. I must therefore formally state: I will immediately cease all personal patronage and all social media endorsements of your winery. No future bookings or referrals will ever be directed from the Chef Deliceous platform.
I wish you the best in your future endeavors, but I will ensure my network is fully aware of the treatment received.

Recommended dishes: Wine Bar, Papas Bravas
Roots is a self service wine bar in the heights that’s perfect for your next date night! They give you a card and you’re free to pour as much as you’d like or just have a taste! They have so many options it a really cool concept. The food is incredible too. Love the fried chicken and the patatas bravas. The burger was really good too! Definitely worth your time to check this spot out :)

Amazing experience, good music, great service from the staff and the wine was fantastic as well. Got the charcuterie board and it was 10/10 paired with many of the wines. Definitely coming back soon!

A very complete event, with delicious food, an excellent atmosphere, and very fun karaoke. I hope they continue to do more of these types of events and offer a top-notch show.

Enjoyed my first visit here. Amazing wines & service. My only complaint is it was hotttt think there are A/C issues maybe…I ended up sitting outside in front of a fan, that was cooler than indoors.
But I will be back again. Didn’t try the food but will eat next time.

$3 to $4 per ounce of mediocre wine is crazy! Pizza was small doughy “Walmart” frozen style. Very disappointing.

Met a good friend of mine at this place for the first time.
It has a nice, chill atmosphere; quite unassuming.
The concept of 🍷 tasting here is pretty cool, and the prices are reasonable.
The truffle fries were yummy.
I especially enjoyed the Caesar salad, which was recommended to me by the manager Noberto (his wife was pleasant & knew her wines - also a great help!) He wasn't kidding when he stated how good it is! 🤌🏽
I placed an order to go as well.
Not to mention, it's on a houston food list of 400 items & it ranks 17th!
Also, we met the owner who was inviting & pleasant.
Their wine selection has a wide variety & the quality is definitely there.
I look forward to visiting again to try that lobster Mac n cheese & steak tartar.
Thank you!

I just can’t get past being forced to pay 20% gratuity. Yes it says it on the menu but realistically who is going to turn away once you’ve already gone out of your way to get to the establishment. So it’s the part that you have no say on how much you tip. Unfortunately I can’t be okay going back with that policy. I spent $106 for just myself.

I’ve been here many times alone, with others & have consistently recommended it. I adore this wine bar. The concept is amazing; rotating wine on tap? In several different pour sizes??!
YES please. The vibe is so chill & comfortable. The patio is really nice, service good & the food is good too! * 5stars fr. *

Pretty cool situation where you receive a card when you arrive and you use that card to go to one of 56 wine bottles that are in auto dispensers. I believe you can get a 2oz, 5oz or 9oz pour according to what button you push and that card is charged accordingly.
Best part is you can try so many small pours without harassing a bartender.
I thought everything was pretty great. Only improvement I can possibly suggest is to move some of the tables further away from the wine stations. You feel like you’re encroaching on people’s spaces as you’re browsing.
Would return.

I love this spot! The scene is suitable for any occasion, whether you have some laptop work (they have wifi!), a date, or a group hangout. Fun to try different options before committing to one and they have little cards to go with each wine to help you learn about it and track your preferences.

Great atmosphere and swanky environment! Probably won't return due to forced 20% gratuity on self service wine from the wall dispenser. We also weren't able to get an itemized receipt of our wine purchases. We were offered a to take screen shot from the computer screen. This seems like a system issue that could be corrected. With corrective measures I would love to return.
