Sammie J's is the heart and soul of the neighborhood. I’ve been coming here since 2008, and it’s been phenomenal every time. It’s one of the few dive bars around with a full kitchen—and the food is seriously good. Pro tip: don’t miss Wednesday Steak Nights, cooked by Sammie herself. Delicious, affordable, and always hits the spot.
The bartenders—Annie, Molly, Chase, and of course Sammie J—are top-notch. Friendly, fast, and they treat you like family. The vibe leans conservative, so just know that going in, but it’s a welcoming place for all. It’s truly a “where everybody knows your name” kind of spot.
They’ve got karaoke on certain nights with fun, talented locals, plus a solid jukebox when it's off. There’s also a back patio, pool tables, game machines, great drink specials, and a full menu with a ton of variety. Bonus: they do events and catering too.
If you're looking for good people, good drinks, great food, and a real local vibe—Sammie J’s is it. A true Houston gem.

Easy experience, we two were the sole customers at 11:00 am, Saturday. They had been open since nine. This meant sit anywhere, a fast kitchen and we sponges up the ambience, definitely more character than a wipe n dry eatery, a welcome change.
Have ordered from here and been there in person many times.. dined in and take out.. was very disappointed nobody answered to accept my order today!! The food is really good!! Like mama would make down home tasty.!! I really wanted to order I’m dissatisfied no one was available to take my order tonight..!!! But I’ll drive over myself!
