Based on the many positive reviews, I'm in the minority here and that's perfectly fine. Smashburger adds some flavoring to their meat that's reminiscent of liquid smoke. Unfortunately for me and my wife, it just tasted like rotten meat. The combination of the rotten meat masked by chemical flavoring was objectively awful.
The service at the register was ok, the atmosphere was ok, although the location I was in was a converted bank and it was quite loud with lots of echos. A little acoustical tiles would go a long way to making the place more pleasant. The tables were dirty and the staff didn't take time to wipe down or clean tables in the time we were there.
But all of that pales in comparison to the taste of the burgers, which was just terrible. Despite the $4.99 special otherwise being a good deal, it's just too off-putting to ever try again, which is a shame because Smashburger gets great reviews, so it's probably something we can taste that others cannot..

Food was absolutely delicious! My friend and I stopped by to fuel up on some food real quick before we headed to Dreamcon. The fries were nice and crispy... And the burgers we had were very tasty and filling. Anthony was really cool and welcoming while we were there and the other gentleman that was there was very helpful as well(we forgot to get his name). Thank you guys so much for such amazing food and service!!
