First time coming, I guess you get faster & friendlier service from the older hispanic gentleman if you’re a regular. While taking our order his demeanor was poor and had little patience with us, even though I ordered quickly and only took brief moments to decide on our choice of soda and sides. This behavior was not repeated with the clients after us.I ordered 2 burgers, waffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and drinks. Cashier greeted two families (4+ people) & one takeout customer in a friendly manor and acknowledged them as returning customers. They ordered after us and all received their order at least 15 minutes before because cashier didn’t submit order to the kitchen until the kinder younger cashier noticed our long wait.Food was good and the atmosphere was great but a shame to receive different service than others did during our visit.

I read about this place recently in the Community Impact newspaper. They've been around since 1986 and at this location since about 2006.I had a regular hamburger, soft drink, and Mrs. Vickies chips, so the only thing I can review is the burger and the place itself.The place is nostalgic and the music is from the 60s. Service was absolutely great. They're friendly, take your order and get it served as fast as you would expect, and they don't have a setup where you would even feel like remove your own trash from the table -- no giant cans with places for trays on top.Regarding the burger, I'd put it way above large-chain fast food places like McDonalds or Burger King, and about even with regional fare like the Texas Dairy Queen Hungr-Bustr or the regular Whataburger. Those are around $6.00 and this one was $9.00, but to me it's worth $3 extra because of the fact that it's still a local family-owned restaurant.Being only 3 blocks from my office, I'm sure I'll go back. I'll try the fries or the onion rings next time.

It was our first experience in this franchise. Upon entering, observe a traditional atmosphere, without luxury or elegance. We got a very bad impression since there was a person lying down sleeping on a table and the service staff walked past him and didn't say anything to him. I don't know if it is a normal or habitual situation but it made us uncomfortable and we avoided using the table. that said person was in, due to this situation we removed a star from the rating. The attention and correct service. The fries did not feel fresh and freshly prepared but rather reheated which is why I also took off a star. Would I return to the same place? Maybe I would prefer to visit another place from the same franchise to compare the experience and impression with the one we went to. The place looks familiar but our first experience was not all that good.

Fantastic place to a eat! I ordered a Monterey jack cheese burger, reg fries, large dr.pepper, small chocolate shake. A server brought out my food after a five minute wait. Everything tasted delicious ???. I recommend everyone to stop by South Wells for a mouth watering cheese burger! ? I will be coming by often to try out the other tasty burgers ???

Was craving a burger and came here for old times sake (it's across from my old high school!). It hasn't changed much over the years besides the price increasing bit by bit like everything else nowadays. Service was really quick as there was only one other customer on a rainy weekday afternoon before school let out. I ordered a Swiss cheeseburger on wheat bread with everything and waffle fries. I forgot they include mustard and I don't prefer it, but other than that, the burger was solid. I do wish the bread had been toasted and more buttery, but maybe it would have if I did not order wheat bread. The waffle fries are exceptionally crisp and crunchy and excellently seasoned.

Great burgers at a decent price. Burgers are cooked perfectly, juicy and hot. Got mine with cheese and bacon and skipped the bun, wrapped in lettuce. Everything was fresh, tea was good too. The sweet potato fries are hot and crispy I couldn't resist eating a few of my friend's. Nice clean tables and fast friendly service.

When I’m deciding on food for lunch or dinner, the item that I am most likely to seek is a burger. Living in a large city like Houston, it is easy to find a restaurant serving beef patties on a bun piled high with your favorite toppings and one burger joint I have visited and liked is Southwell’s Hamburger Grill.This Southwell location is located off the main road, so many people do not even realize that it’s here. It is very close to interstate 10, and thus easy enough to find. It is larger on the inside than expected, with a good number of tables and booths, enough to seat upwards of one hundred people.Burgers are the reason you visit Southwell’s. The menu consists of burgers, sides, and shakes and you order at the counter, then wait for the food to be delivered to your table. One thing I like is that they have a small display, right there on the counter when you order, showing the topping options. This helps make the process faster, since customers are not looking all over the place trying to find the choices. Burgers are prepared to order, and with this easily visible display, it is easy to see the topping choices and order exactly what you want. And there are about 20 different burgers from which to choose, along with a few chicken sandwiches, salads, etc.Burgers and sides are all sold separately at Southwell’s. There isn’t a combo meal menu. That means you can either go light and order just a burger and drink, or add a side if you want. I love the onion rings served here, so I will usually get that as my side item. Combined with a juicy burger on wheat or white bun, with the toppings of my choosing, makes for a satisfying meal.Service at Southwell’s Hamburger Grill is efficient. In a matter of minutes, they have the food for you, delivered to your table. It’s only a little slower than the service at a fast- food restaurant, but much faster than the service at a full service restaurant. And the food is easily better than fast food and on- par with that of most full service establishments.Houston is known for its burger culture. Southwell’s Hamburger Grill is a good place for a quick burger fix, and the prices are reasonable for what you get. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good burger, prepared the way you like it.

Great Burger and Fries!!! First bite you can taste the crisp toasted bun, crispy bacon and warm cheese and meat. The second and third bite gets you into the vegetables, they are stacked well! The meat patty for sure will fill you up, it will be hard to finish the entire burger abs fries. I chose the waffle fries, and they did not disappoint. I will for sure visit this location again, they know how to make a tasty burger!
