It’s a vibe, especially on a Thursday. It does get packed after midnight, so anytime before that is elite—room to dance, slide through the crowd, catch a two-step, and really sit in the JAMS.
Special shoutout to the DJs, they understand the assignment every TIME. The kind of set that takes you back without feeling stuck, heavy on the 90s R&B energy with just enough flow to keep the floor moving.
The bartenders? Always on point 🎯 no misses.
If you grew up on 90s R&B, Sugar Room feels like home. Easily an R&B staple in HTX.

Expensive for no reason. Doorman acts like the place is exclusive. Inside it’s really just a bakery masquerading as bar. Total waste of time and money. There are tons of bars on Washington you can go too.

Very cute place, the DJ was great, the drinks were amazing. It got really crowded really quick. But it was a good time.
This is a cute walk in bar camouflaged as a bakery. Upon walking in, you can actually purchase desserts, but then the side door opens into a full club with a DJ, patio, couches, and bar. We went on a Friday night and they played R & B music. I am 45, but the crowd appeared to be younger, maybe 21-30. It was still a vibe, I was there for the music, but I would go back. We stayed about an hour b/c they were closing (2am), but it was worth what I was looking for. Parking is on the street or in a parking lot so be prepared to pay. We got a $30 ticket upon walking out for not paying at the meter (which we didn't see the sign).

👻 🎃 Best Halloween costume contest in Houston. Big crowd with a lot of energy to make any holiday a vibe. Patio offers more options for conversations and a spot to get started before hitting the dance floor. Venue has excellent speakers for any show. Drinks slap with great bartenders and the most fun on Washington Ave.

I didn't eat but the outside bar where we were sitting was closed so we had to go inside each time. There was a waiter but they didn't come to us other than to order a hookah. It was crazy windy outside with the commercial wall fans they had. Seriously, I thought my eyelashes were going to get blown away. I adjusted my seating to the side and had someone sit next to me to block it a little. It was nice they had air circulating but I wish it could have been turned down a little. A lot of people went inside due to this, but we didn't because the inside was really really packed. I didn't order food. Lemon drops were $25 each.

A nice speakeasy where people actually dance. Good music and dj. The drinks are reasonably priced, less than $20. They have a nice patio, back area for a more chill time.
