I travel for work, and often have trouble finding excellent Indian food in the cities I visit throughout the country. Thankfully, I didn't run into that problem in Houston!Surya is the place to go for flavorful, thoughtfully prepared Indian cuisine in an upscale yet comfortable environment. I've started every meal here with the delicious vegetable samosas, which feature a delicate, flaky pastry and a perfectly spiced filling of potatoes and peas. I'm totally addicted to these.I'm typically a fan of chicken curry dishes, and I've had the Chicken Mangalorean and the Chicken Korma, both of which are delicious. Chicken Korma is one of my go-to dishes at any Indian restaurant, and Surya's is among the best I've had. Rice and naan compliment the curries perfectly. Finally, the service is impeccable. On my first visit, I noticed the chef-owner, Sheel, making the rounds and conversing with his regulars, of which there appeared to be many. When I came back for my second visit, he remembered me from the last time and came over to introduce himself. Even though I'm only in Houston for a short time, Sheel has made me feel like a regular myself! I wish I could stay in town longer, if only to visit Surya more often!

Wonderful experience!I wouldn’t normally leave a review for a delivery order, but felt an exception was due. Every single dish we ordered was amazing, portions were plentiful, and tastefully prepared. Compared to the more “well known” & more expensive establishments in Houston Surya is absolutely a must try top competitor!

In a non descript strip mall, this beautiful restaurant serves the best Indian food in Houston. While Aga's is good for grilling, this restaurant is the best for curries . We started with cauliflower fries, the batter was perfect. The shrimp mangalorian is to die for. It lingers in your taste buds the way an amazing story lingers in your mind. We also had perfect chicken bhuna and lamb. The chef is from the Taj restaurants in India, one of the best restaurants in India for high end dining.Yes, they dont allow kids, they dont allow shorts, but that is clearly spelt out in their web site. I guess their space is small for a kid to run around, but their food is amazing.

SURYA is our go to Indian restaurant every time. Not only does my family love it but every guest we bring or we send they also have the same comments. The food is always amazing, delicious and served by great people that take great care of their guests. Check it out you will love it.

Vegetarian options: Indian food always have great vegetarian options but SURYA have taken them to a higher level.

Parking: The access to parking is very good. No valet needed

Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchairs and good parking right outside the entrance.

My children have eaten at Michelin star restaurants in Spain, Switzerland, NYC.... but this owner turns away my family, my 4 year old was in a suit and my 8 and 9 year old daughters dressed up in dresses. We typically have Surya delivered to Bellaire, but tonight my husband wanted to take the kids out and they chose Surya, what a disappointment to be turned away. I will never order from here again, or make any recommendation, the food is good but we have many great Indian restaurants in Houston. Thank goodness we have Aga's.

I love this place! Food is great, service is great. I love their no kids policy: adults can have conservations as adults instead of watching if young children around. Love the atmosphere!

Upscale? No. Butter chicken tiki masala had only 9 small, dry af pieces of chicken in it drowned in sauce, the bullet naan was more like a spicy cracker (garlic & butter?? What’s that???), the rice was like rice should be, and the sag paneer was spicy but delicious. One star for the sag paneer only. These 4 items totaled $40, tip not included. Oh & if you want to dine-in with your family, forget about it. Children are not welcome. I was told this on the phone. Overpriced, underserved, & lifeless. But if like expensive crackers & small chicken nuggies, then by all means, try Surya.

#JoeFoodTour #RiceMilitary #WashingtonCorridor #Indian Surya Indian Restaurant is a must-try for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Indian cuisine. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including classic favorites like butter chicken and biryani, as well as lesser-known options like dosa and vada. Love me some saag paneer. The flavors are bold and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spice. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with friendly staff who are happy to make recommendations. Highly recommend! #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes #LivingLifeInHouston

Really disappointing meal and experience. No alterations allowed to meals (hate peas and they served it in the masala meal) and added to the rice after I asked to leave the peas off. Balance in sauce is off and garlic naan was burnt. The owner made an effort to speak to everyone in the restaurant besides us.

My favorite Indian Restaurant! I think they have an award winning dish if I’m not mistaken. Food is always fresh and the owner takes a lot of pride in his work. Highly recommend.

Amazing food! So good brought it all the way back to Arkansas for friends to have. Nothing but rave reviews from everyone.

Poor service, poor choice of food, rude!!!Cannot share food if you’re there as family. So if I want to enjoy three different dishes with family of four, I would HAVE to order 12 dishes!!! Ridiculous policy. This was specifically pointed out to use before we ordered anything. Oh, one more thing. The atmosphere is hilarious, they need to come to India to find out what fine dining ambience looks like. This was a grocery store turned into what would look like something fancy with cheap blue lighting and some wooden furniture.

Would've love to try this place. But as soon as we walked in with a minor, we were turned away. Looking at the signs outside, it already doesn't feel welcoming. Should've taken that as a sign of things to come.

We got the chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo with two orders of rice and an order of naan. It cost $50 before a tip… pretty expensive for simple dishes, but whatever, moving on. The worst part about this was the naan was the saddest naan i’ve eaten. Granted, i did drive home 10 minutes before eating it, but it was thin, chewy, and there was only one piece… seriously, just one piece of naan in an order... cmon. The entrees were delicious, but this was not worth $50 plus tip. If the naan had 2 more pieces it would be an easy 4 star
