I visited what used to be my favorite bakery and coffee shop in Houston, located in CityCentre, and I left feeling very disappointed. I spent over $30 on a few cupcakes, a coffee, and a croissant, and unfortunately the quality was not what it used to be. The cupcakes were hard and dry, almost as if they had been sitting out for several days. The prices are also higher now, and the variety they once offered simply wasn’t there — the display looked limited and almost empty.
The one thing I can say is that the barista was very kind and answered all of my questions, and that’s definitely something they should recognize and keep encouraging.
Sadly, it’s no longer the same experience, and I truly hope they take this feedback to improve, especially since they market their products as high-quality. I really loved this place before, and I hope they can bring back what made it special.
Came here to try their macaroons.
When we walked in, we saw what looked like 2 different checkout counters - one on the right and one on the left. There was a girl helping customers at the counter to the right and a guy helping customers at the counter to the left. Neither of them greeted us which is fine because they were busy with other people and we were content to pick a line and wait. We went to the counter on the left and waiting behind the people that the guy worker was helping. They had a pretty big order so it was a long wait. Towards the end of their order, the guy went over to the other counter to make the coffees for the people he was helping in front of us. After he gave them their coffees, he stayed at the other counter and began helping customers over there instead of helping us. We waited another 3 mins to see if anyone would come back the the counter we at or even just acknowledge us. Another 3 mins ago by and the lady that was at the other counter brings a customer from over there to come stand in front of us so she could help her. I finally decided to butt in and asked if they sold macaroons. She said yes but they were sold out. So we waited around 15 mins for nothing.
If people can only get service at the counter on the right, they should probably mention it to their customers instead of letting them stand there confused and ignored for 20 mins.
Geraldine is a superb barista, probably the best ever, I have encountered at this location. She is so pleasant and a warm welcome in the mornings when I’m passing through the area. I specifically only come if I know she will be making my oat latte.
I came here around 8:10am since their hours stated everywhere that they open at 8am. There was no one there and I hung around for a bit just to see if someone was just running late, nope.
I later called around 9:35 to see if someone opened shop and still nope.
Then I called a few days later just asking if they changed their hours but he told me they’re supposed to open at 9AM on Fridays, I guess they just don’t answer their phones for customers even if they’re working. He said he would work on getting this fixed but apparently other customers have come across the same issue of this shop opening and closing when they just feel like it… how is that fair to customers who have to drive far?
Yummy frappe
Disappointing, Dry!
I emailed SWEET in Memorial City on September 29 with a cake request, and it’s now been over 10 days with no response …even after multiple calls and follow-ups. I’ve decided to just give up and order somewhere else.
It’s really disappointing because this seems to happen every year, but this time was much worse. I still haven’t heard back at all, which is frustrating because as a busy mom, I try to plan ahead and have everything booked and secured early. I shouldn’t have to constantly follow up just to place a cake order.
I’ve always loved their cakes, but the lack of communication and reliability has really made me reconsider ordering from SWEET in the future.
I honestly don’t know why I or anyone else looking to pre-ordered baked goods would come here if they are so unreliable. Find somewhere else, I’m sure you’ll have a better experience buying pre-ordered baked goods somewhere more organized or more reliable employees.
Came here Saturday afternoon 10/4/25 to pre-order some cupcakes for my kid’s birthday. When I came to pick them up, they hadn’t been made nor did their employees ever tell them (whoever the higher power is) about the order. I came in to order because we went to eat dinner at a restaurant nearby and had a question. After they took down my order and information I asked if I should pay for them now. They said, “no” and to pay when I pick it up. I said, “oh, ok”. It felt weird but I figured that was their process.
Now I’m up a creek. No cupcakes.
This was my first time visiting this store (I just moved to the area) and I can assure you that this pre-ordering process needs to be addressed. I don’t care if you do it the old fashion way with the carbon copies or whatever. But, this is terrible service.
All I got was an “I’m sorry”. Not even a $5 off (for wasting my time) your next visit to even make it remotely necessary to come back and try their products.
The lady that helped me when I came to pick them up said it’s an ongoing issue. Whatever that means.
The pumpkin cupcake was incredible! Super moist and not too sweet. I also had a delicious blueberry muffin. They also have other items like coffee, macaroons, and so much more! Would recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth
Your hours are wrong. 9am on a Friday and the store is closed.

This place looked so promising from the outside. The pastry selection was vast but I was so disappointed in the service I received. I’ll never spend money here again.
I came here with a colleague to get macarons, but the curly-haired male employee didn’t acknowledge or greet us. He was attentive and helpful to the white couple ahead of us, but when it was our turn, he completely ignored us. We left without buying a treat, and the only thing he said was “goodbye.” I will not be returning.
This place used to be really good. However, the last couple of visits have been awful. The macarons taste like raw sugar and the crème brûlée is really dry. They never seem to have any cake left either. Unfortunately, I’ve been for the last time.
Got there at 10:00am Saturday, and they had no food to purchase, an hour into opening.
This place used to be a go-to of mine when I was in city centre, but the last two times I’ve been here I’ve seen flies going between the cupcakes and fruit tarts. Just stick to the coffee, and you’ll be good
