Tex Chic Puerto Rican Eatery is truly a hidden gem for authentic Puerto Rican food in Houston. From the moment we walked in, Titi Marilú made us feel welcome and treated us like family. Her warmth and hospitality made the entire experience feel just like being back home in Puerto Rico.
We ordered a variety of traditional dishes, and every single one was excellent. The alcapurrias were perfectly crispy on the outside and well-seasoned inside, just like the ones you find in Puerto Rico. The empanadillas were fresh and flavorful. The arroz con salchichas with habichuelas was comforting and nostalgic, and the mofongo was moist, garlicky, and full of authentic flavor. The bistec encebollado was tender and cooked perfectly, topped with flavorful onions that brought everything together beautifully. To complete the experience, we enjoyed Malta and Kola Champagne, which added to the authentic Caribbean feel of the meal.
If you are looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in Houston, Caribbean food, or the best mofongo in the area, this restaurant should absolutely be on your list. The food is genuine, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere feels like home.
