I get the hype. Portobello salad? So delicious! I think what really stands out for Gypsy Poet is their fresh ingredients and aesthetic placement of the food. Might be more to it since I’m only basing it off of first impression, but I’ll definitely be coming back. Yes, coming back specifically for that portobello salad!

I just don’t understand the hype, the 2 pizzas we received barely had a cheese on them and did not have much flavor; simply just average pizza with a high price tag. Imperio Italino has way better pizza and atmosphere. This place is a farce in regards to pizza. I’m just convinced there is some sort of implicit bias when people come here to claim this is the best pizza in town, far far from reality.

Love the pizza. Hard to find pizza of this quality and style in Houston since Cane Rosso closed but we're lucky to have Gypsy Poet fill that void. Plenty of beverages to choose from at the restaurant as well.

I'm new to Houston. A lot of people recommended Gypsy poet for having the best pizza in Houston so I called and ordered. Got there exactly as it came out of the oven. I was speaking with the owner, told him that I grew up in the pizza industry and my father used on the napolitana style pizza restaurant and he was pizzaiolo certified he began to tell me about how he cooks his pizza and the type of flour he uses. He opens up the box, looks and quickly closes. It writes on the top. How long his cook times are he likes to cook for 3 minutes. His staff cooked for 5 minutes We finish up our conversation. I get home and it was completely burnt to a crisp normally in a Forno oven you cook for 60 seconds there was absolutely no chew to the crust. It was hard as a rock like captain crunch The sauce slid off of the pizza and the cheese was even burnt I'm very disappointed because he could have rectified it When he saw the pizza.
