Wow!!! What an amazing restaurant! We went last night and every single dish was perfect! All the flavors and the presentation were simply great! I think the butternut squash one was my favorite! The cheese was so good! It is a set menu so just go there willing to try things. Is definitely a most try place in Houston!

What an experience! When you walk in, it has a nice trendy and hip decor, but what's surprising is that as you walk in to be seated for the set menu, on the other side is a nice fine dining area. It felt like a speak easy. What I have to say, is that each dish at this restaurant was extremely unique. I have never had dishes like these before! We ordered the tasting menu along with the pairings. In addition to the menu, we ordered oysters and the butternut squash rackette. The oysters were cooks with miso wasabi, and did not taste as "seafoody" as most oysters do - great for people who are not as enthusiastic about oysters. The butternut squash was to die for. The melted cheese paired perfectly with the buns that were accompanied with it - I highly recommend that you order this! The guacamole and chips was innovative. There's no other way to put it. They created their own avocados and created the shells with nori! Again - this is the first time I've seen it created this way. There was a Japanese inspired carbonara that used shaved smoked abalone, and uni to act as the 'yolk' The duck breast tasted good and came with tasty sides, but it was probably the least exciting of all the dishes. Lastly the dessert came in a coconut shell, with a coconut sorbet, pineapple and a custard. The shell was placed in a bowl of sugar which mimicked sand - the amount of detail put into each dish was really impressive. Lastly, they have a great Absinthe bar - worth checking out if you've never seen one before.

Delicious and unique offerings. In-un-hurried relaxing pace of service.

I came here with 3 other friends during Houston's 2018 Restaurant Weeks. We had a reservation but waited (a little awkwardly) in the lobby while we waited for our friends. Luckily it wasn't too long and the hostess soon walked us to the restaurant. The walk was actually quite cool-- you have to push open a wall/door to get to the actual Pass restaurant. (The main restaurant that's visible from the outside is Provisions.) Inside The Pass, the decor was very elegant, modern, and romantic (if you're on a date). You can see the open kitchen and all the action going on (which can serve as a distraction if you're on a bad date). We were greeted immediately by a friendly waiter who offered us water and a description of the menu, especially the HRW specials. He was very impressive. Several other servers/managers also approached our table to ensure we were settled. Our HRW specials came out promptly, and each course came out together. My favorite appetizer was the beet tartare. I didn't expect to like beets, but it was surprisingly tasty! Others ordered a tuna appetizer that was also good for those who like the taste of seafood. Our pasta was interesting-- One person got pasta that came in the shape of okra, which was a surprise, and another got a single ravioli. Both dishes were tasty but not exactly filling... For the main course, I got the halibut that was stuffed into a corn, so it looked like corn on the cob! Whoever made that has my respect! My friends got a beef dish, which varied in the amount of fat/meat. One friend had a very lean piece while the other had a giant chunk of fat as part of it. Finally, the desert was super cute-- pineapple puree and some type of ice cream. All-in-all, the food was unique and good, the service was prompt & polite, and the decor/ambiance was very enjoyable. I had a great time. If I could give any recommendations to The Pass, it would be this: 1) Stop passing out pancake mix as a to-go favor...it doesn't taste very good; 2) trim down the number of waiters who visit a single table...although our service was good, I could not figure out who our actual waiter was because we had ~8 people serve us. I would go there again if given the opportunity.

I asked my lovely wife where she would like to celebrate her birthday this year. After considering some formidable contenders, she picked The Pass, and this is coming from someone who doesn't prefer Tasting Menu, after several arduous experience we had. We celebrated a day earlier because Saturday is elder care day, and we don't want to break the normal routine of taking the elders out for dinner. The Pass is only offering Houston Restaurant Week dinner menu at this moment, so we picked the 4 Course Tasting Menu, and get to sample almost all the choices offered. Let me just get to the chase, The Pass once again totally blew our mind. Our taste buds were like going through all sorts of thrilling, creative, and enjoyable rides in the happiest Culinary Disneyland. Every single dish was nothing short of amazing, save one dessert that we haven't acquired the taste for. I'll just post the star dish of the night for now, Smoked Beef Shortrib, Red Cabbage BBQ Sauce/Pickled Carrots/Jalapeno Bread. That crust on the Smoked Beef Shortrib is like flavor waffles, I want to dab every single particles and eat them! The Shortrib itself has a fantastic smokiness and the ideal tenderness. What is not to like about a Jalapeno Bread bread? For God Sake, it's Carb! The Pickled Carrots is a genius touch to cut through the substantialness of protein and fat. Red Cabbage BBQ Sauce is very organic, fresh, and natural, without the overwhelming strength of regular BBQ sauce. I don't take The Pass & Provision for granted. It is a world class restaurant, and they consistently take risk and deliver most of the time for us. We have deep appreciate for NEW way of doing things, and this restaurant keeps knocking it out of the park for us. The value is amazing, considering how creative, delicious, and superior the restaurant is. Service is also top-notched with very well-trained, professional, and friendly staffs. We miss you Angela Moore, but we're happy that you're enjoying your vacation, and the staff did take great care of us, even though we don't drink alcohol. Chef Terrence Gallivan and Chef Seth Siegel Gardner are a powerful and dynamic duo who constantly offer fantastic, creative, and globally influenced dishes, we're big fans of them since day 1 they opened. Thank you very much for such an outstanding dinner for us to celebrate Vanessa's birthday. I'm looking forward to trying the full Tasting Menu in the future.

We have always wanted to try this place out because of all the rave reviews we have heard about it. Last night, we took advantage of HRW by trying The Pass for dinner. It was nice that they had a private lot for parking as well as plenty of street parking in addition to valet service. Having never been here, I had high expectations. The ambience was a very intimate and romantic setting. The dining space was smaller than I imagined, but it was cool that you could see into the kitchen. Service here was also very professional and polished. We ordered the following items: grilled oysters, tuna belly, halibut "on the cob", briquette of smoked beef short rib, iced coffee cake, and roasted pineapple. I knew that the portion sizes were going to be small, but the items were even smaller than I imagined. All the items had unique flavors and were executed well. The star of the show for me was the roasted pineapple dessert. The vanilla panna cotta was so rich and creamy. The coconut sorbet and pineapple cut the richness of the panna cotta well. This was probably one of the best desserts I have ever eaten in my life!

Went for HRW. The food was amazing in originality, presentation, and flavor. Most of the table staff was pretty uppity. In addition I felt like the courses were a bit rushed, but we were able to slow it down. I also did not like be constantly asked if I was done with my plate. For a restaurant that was half empty I'm not sure why the hurry. But still worth a trip for the food and experience. It was like some top chef level food.

My all time favorite spot in Houston. I only wish I could get there more often. I've tried a lot of different items off the menu and have never been disappointed. If you have not been yet, you need to go!

Beet Tartare- interesting dish and super fresh! Very cleansing. A nice starter for the pallet. Roasted Foie Gras- so different but so good! A great way to try this french dish if never before Halibut "On The Cob" - fun little dish served in such a unique way. Palette cleanser served before dessert that I believe is a Cucumber Sorbet with a Rhubarn Seltzer... interesting...definitely tasty. Iced Coffee Cake - think tres leche coffee cake meringue. So good. So many flavors. I wouldn't say the ice cream was close to Mexican chocolate but still good Pep Talk- great cocktail! Derek server was amazing. Explained the menu wonderfully and helped with our choices. Very friendly demeanor and didn't crowd our table or make us feel rushed. WAY better than the provisions side. Will return!

I first brought my wife here for her birthday last year in 2017. She had never been to a tasting menu restaurant before this and was a bit nervous. By the end of the night she had taken photos of every dish that was placed on our table, it was an excellent meal. We came back again for her birthday this year. It was twice as good as before with some of the best, most beautiful food we have eaten. The atmosphere and food here create an experience every bit worth the cost. I only have one small thing to add. Before coming here my wife enjoyed going out to nice dinners but was timid about the cost. Since then we have been to similar places throughout the world and the price is a second thought. I have created a monster. You may create one too.

Wonderful experience. Friend took me for my birthday and had a great time experiencing tasting menu with wine pairings. Very attentive service and great food. Also enjoyed the setting, being able to watch the chefs at work.

Alright, this was cool. The decorations are extremely minimalistic, which draws your eyes to the awesome exposed kitchen. We went here for a special occasion (very expensive) and really didn't fall in love with any of the dishes, but each one was so unique. We also did the wine pairings--one of the reds was unreal (possibly a San Gimignano? It's been a while now). As a bonus, they push back a huge wall/door to let you into The Pass from Provisions, which gives a sense of exclusivity and privacy.

The service was great. The food was disappointing. The sulami pizza stank the whole place. Not worth the high price tag. Would not come back.
