Our favorites spot. The meat was smoked perfectly — super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The brisket literally melted in my mouth, and the ribs had that perfect bark with just the right amount of smoke.
Sides were on point too, especially the mac & cheese and baked beans. You can tell they really care about quality and consistency. Great service, chill atmosphere, and definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.
If you love real BBQ, this spot won’t disappoint. 🔥

The Pit Room is an absolute gem. The brisket was incredibly tender and packed with smoky flavor — it practically melted in my mouth. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and the perfect comfort-food side. I loved the chicken tacos — juicy, well-complimented by the cheese. Decent BBQ really. The brisket is a mix of moist and fatty (butchers cut). Green beans were hard. Coleslaw good and tangy due to vinegar base. Turkey was juicy yet ok. Not mind blowing but not bad.

The Pit serves tender, moist brisket, ribs and chicken however the sausages are too spicy with black pepper jalapeño or whatever else is hot I lost money on it. Not a good experience for my first time there.

My family and I have been loyal customers of The Pit Room since we first discovered the Richmond location. When we found out there was one closer to our home, we were genuinely excited. I’ve recommended this restaurant to friends and family many times because, until now, it has been one of the best barbecue spots in town.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing.
From the moment we walked in, the employee taking orders was noticeably rude and impatient. When customers are ordering especially if it’s their first time or they’re deciding between options — a welcoming and helpful attitude makes a big difference. There was no line behind us, and we were not taking an unreasonable amount of time. We were simply trying to place our order. The interaction felt unnecessarily cold, and when my husband ordered, the tone remained dismissive. We were polite and respectful throughout, so the experience was disappointing.
The rest of the staff, including the cashier and the team clearing tables, were kind and professional.
However, the food itself did not meet the standard we’ve come to expect. The brisket was cold, and the chicken lacked the usual flavor and quality. It honestly felt like we received lower-quality cuts compared to previous visits.
We’ve always loved The Pit Room and have consistently supported this business, which is why this experience stood out. I hope this was just an off day, as we would like to continue recommending a place we once truly enjoyed.
