Saw this place on social media and gave it a try. There’s a million items to choose from. The food was delicious and super fresh. I ordered the walnut shrimp fried to perfection — they had a light airy crisp to them and just the right sweetness. I also ordered the house fried rice with shrimp. The shrimps in the rice were fresh and deveined and a good size. All rices come with an egg roll. I was not a fan of the egg roll or the sweet and sour sauce, personally didn’t like the taste. I wish they had alcoholic drinks other than just beer and had more variety of teas. I would definitely return.

The atmosphere was nice! Very small eating area! I would suggest taking the food to go! If you like pics, it’s a spot for nice pics! The food was tasty and they also had sparkling water!! Price of food was reasonable and a hefty serving!! I only went for the experience!!!! Parking is a headache!!

Ordered curbsidefrom this location with no curbside delivery. Unfortunately I had to go into the establishment in my night pajamas because I originally ordered curbside felling a little under the weather, and was unable to get curbside fulfillment even though it is stated on the ordering app and website! But the food is good ?

I have been waiting to try this place since I moved to Houston and I am glad I did. My boss decided to buy us lunch and we picked this restaurant and doordashed it. I am a vegetarian and they had many options.I picked the curry rice with cauliflower. First of all the portions were great. It was flavorful, spicy and tasted amazing. I also had hot and sour soup which was amazing too. Everything had so much flavor and I can't wait to try other items. The only thing I would change is maybe cutting up the cauliflower so the pieces are smaller instead of leaving them big and remove the limes. Other than that, it's my new favorite Chinese spot.

The food is so fresh and huge portions! I got the chongqing chicken, it was delicious. They also gave me a sample of black sesame ice cream which will be on their menu soon. I was incredible. Since the portions are so big I would recommend they offer a half-size! Anyways, five stars!

Used to love Rice Box when I was in the Heights area a lot, but the location on Shepherd definitely disappointed. I ordered two sweet and sour chicken on rice. Instead of putting the sauce on the side, they totally drown the meat in sauce. If that’s not what you’re used to, you should ask for sauce on the side. I don’t remember them doing this in the Heights location, but maybe. I was definitely going there since the first week they opened off Rutland. Also, I do remember both locations, or all locations, giving you giant boulders of chicken or beef on any dish you order. Even giant chunks of broccoli. So big that everything should be served with a knife and fork. I don’t understand why they do that, and makes me wonder what gives. What’s with the MASSIVE chunks of food. It’s weird and very hard to eat, especially with chopsticks. Seriously don’t get it.

Tried the Curry Chicken, General TSO Chicken, and the Orange Chicken with fried rice and white rice with Chicken Egg Rolls, it’s definitely a FIVE ⭐️ for the quality and quantity. Worth the price and wait.

Having eaten at Chinatown a lot lately, I was in the mood for some bad Chinese. Not like bad tasting. But something like Panda Express Americanized level Chinese food. Enter The Rice Box. I had seen their menu many times passing by. And I saw they offer many Americanized dishes. I might have even ordered from here once a long time ago. I can’t remember. But it wasn’t memorable if I had. Sticking with my mission, I decided to order the General Tso chicken. I debated between Lo Mein and Fried Rice as the side. I decided the greasier the better, so I went with noodles. First off I have to say the egg roll was hot and fresh. Kudos for that. Nothing better than a crispy egg roll. Next the chicken. It was ok. Not much flavor though unfortunately. It was kinda like having COVID all over again. There were a lot of tiny crunchy bits too. I think most people wouldn’t like that fact. But I actually like those bits. It’s just like Long John Silvers which throws all those crumbs in at the bottom of your takeaway bag - I love those. And there were a lot of them too. As for the Lo Mein, I couldn’t really eat much of it. I mean, I think it tasted ok for what it was I guess. But I didn’t care for it. Maybe the fried rice would’ve been better. I know my kid would love something like that though, so I decided to take it home. I always like to try the fortune cookie to see if they’re stale. It wasn’t! Portions are solid. servers were prompt. Huge long line. But if moved fast. Very retro in feel. One of the 3 screens had on Empire - so extra star for that. Very cool. Location a bit hard to get to being in the basement of a workplace. I think they cater to the office folks.

Honestly it was not that great. The flavor is unique and not in a good way...lol. the chicken-dry. The broccoli- flavorless. The noodles- over seasoned. Seems they couldn't find an in between. The quantity is very good but due to the quality I wouldn't say $14 of my money was worth it. Noodles in the carry out- also not a good idea, very messy.

Very mediocre, overpriced Asian food. No matter what I order, it all tastes the same. The sauces are extremely bland and the chicken is always greasy. I asked for extra spicy-ness to my General Tso chicken and it was flavorless. I'm giving 2 stars because the people who work here are very kind.
