Skip this place. Overpriced, pretentious, mediocre food, cramped atmosphere, and parking is a pain. What we ordered:
“Ratatouille” - unappetizing appearance (looked like 5 eyeballs TBH), very one note flavor, salty eggplant, completely missed the zest or acidity of ratatouille, desperately needed vinegar or tomato or the like.
“fried white shrimp” - the shrimp were overcooked, but worse was biting in and pulling out a wet green leaf. The dipping sauce was fish flavored mayonnaise that would’ve been 10 times better with some lemon or hot sauce or vinegar. Instead, you just get creamy and salty from this dish.
“stuffed squash” - you get half of a tiny squash, I’m talking five bites and you’re done. Except you’re not full at all because it was literally just squash, spinach, and a few random beans.
We also got the “lettuces with vinaigrette” and this entire meal that left us hungry after it was over $100. We literally had to get tacos after.
Fail.

Had an incredible birthday dinner last night! The Record Room was fantastic, and Tony’s service was absolutely top-notch. The food, as always, was mind-blowing.

Where to start! This is one of the best dining experiences in Houston. T-Rex is a little hole in the wall in the warehouse district offering incredible bites and a unique atmosphere overlooking the Houston Skyline.
The food absolutely blew my mind, and our waiter was incredible. He made sure we were taken care of the whole night and suggested several bottles for us to try through out our meal.
This restaurant feels cozy and relaxed without sacrificing their high end dining experience. You won't need a suite tie, instead bring you appetite and an open mind!

I think this place is a bit overhyped.
Ambiance is nice it's romantic, very small maybe 6 tables plus bar seating. Be prepared to sit here for 2 hours atleast (they slowly bring out dishes, extremely slowly)
I don't appreciate the 22% gratuity imo it's not warranted. This is just personal, six tables with slow wait times is not very demanding from a service perspective imo.
Now for the food: I ordered the tomatoe toast, dumplings, tagliatelle, the red fish, and the strawberry cake
The toast - the tomatoe topping was fantastic the bread is deep fried in butter I believe, this isn't needed imo the bread is so heavy I felt bloated the rest of the meal becawue it was so heavy due to the deep frying. Would have been fine with just 5he bread itself plus spread
Dumplings - fantastic taste
Tagliatelle - fantastic taste but small portion
Red fish - probabaly the most flavorful dish and very nice with the touch of honey on the crust
Desert - this dessert has an almost crem brulee top with the burnt sugar. It's a big piece, the first bite was really good but the more I ate it the more burnt sugar taste just overwhelmed me.
I would say 3 dishes were fantastic but the price / experience ratio is way too high

Great value for money! Paid ~$120 for two. Good food, it was all was a tad too salty or (the dessert) too sweet for my taste, but good overall. Nothing that a lot of water to drink with couldn’t solve!
The place is cozy looking, cool exposed brick, but we found the seats a bit too uncomfortable for the long seating time, that type of seating works better for a place where you spend max 30 min. I ended up with back pain, and we found that the AC was ranked up too cold. Bring a jacket 😌

Really gorgeous cooking on display here. It's a place where everything manages to be exciting, interesting and delicious. There's also a phenomenal wine list. With the exception of the seating (the curve of the banquette looks comfortable until you're actually sat on it) it's a perfect place to sit a linger over dessert and wine.

There were a lot of tasty items, but candidly, the service felt stiff, helicopter hovery, and pretentious. I'm reluctant to say that, but my friend and I spoke at great length after the meal about how weird a vibe the servers gave off. At one point when there was a long lull, I asked about the chicken rice dish (which was similar to hainanese style) that we had ordered, and the server actually laughed at me. Even if his intention wasn't snarky, it definitely was an odd reaction, one I've never seen in any continent or establishment that considers itself to be fine dining but serves bottled lemonade I can buy at H-E-B.
Former post office with a chamber atmosphere - only 7 tables plus a kitchen counter. The service was very attentive and food was delicious. Finally, a HTX restaurant that is absolutely worth Bib Gourmand Michelin guide rating.
However, no espresso or espresso-based coffee drinks.
