It's okay. I ordered a beef meat plate with potatoe salad and black eye peas. The peas were the best thing on the plate. The meat was good and tender. Had a hefty amount of fat to meat ratio. The potatoes were strong with mustard. My girlfriend had a rib plate with cabbage and some type of dirty rice. The rice was so very sexy. Neither of us could eat it. But the flavor in general was there. The cabbage lacked in flavor. I was told the ribs had a smoky flavor and were okay. The store was in a Vietnamese style and was a bit over priced on daily specials at they were the same as a while played with sides.

Iam a native Houstonian and just return after 2 yrs and the service sucks,before friendly, kind, loving, and home friendly, now rude barbeque sauce is watered down and not the same flavor. Thomas's was the thing back in the day and I am 63 yrs old. You can't use the restroom until you pay for your meal(what) and just rude. I think they boil the ribs and no flavor. I want the old school back.

This place is definitely not like it used to be. I used to go here a lot with my mom and get the bake potatoes for years. Today I go inside and you can’t even smell the bbq for starters. Then there is cooked slab of ribs just sitting on an empty table out on a plate, no coverings, nothing keeping them warm. The food in the buffet area looked like they took leftovers out the fridge and warmed it up. The rice was burnt corn was overcooked the yams looked like someone use the pot as a toilet.I ordered a chopped beef sandwich something different and my man ordered a mixed baked potatoe, we get home, our meat is hard as rock stale, cold and they didn’t put the sausage on the potatoe, because he was too busy in his phone. I would not recommend anyone or their family to dine or to go at this establishment it’s not what it used to be.

Thomas Bar B-Q recently changed ownership, and the couple who runs it is super sweet! They even have a bowl of candy for their younger customers -- super cute. Service is quick and friendly, and the cook seems to know what he's doing :) They have a couple meats to choose from, including ribs, brisket, roast chicken, and sausage. My personal favorite was the brisket: it was both cooked and seasoned perfectly! Next favorite for me were the ribs, then the sausage. I wasn't too keen on the sausage, but it is unique in that they make it themselves out of the beef cuts on the menu. Its texture is different from others I've had, and I've heard that other customers really love it. I did find the hot beef links to be more to my taste than the original; they weren't my fave menu item, but I found myself going back for it. The roast chicken was juicy and tender with crispy skin -- I personally despise dry and flavorless chicken, and I was SO HAPPY to find the opposite at Thomas Bar B-Q. They have a sides bar where you can pick from to add to a plate or to buy on their own. My favorite was the potatoes! The mac and cheese was okay, but it was a little softer than al dente, which is what I prefer. The beans I would have liked to be saltier, but everyone has different palates, so you can try and form your own opinion on them. And my favorite thing was the loaded potato!!! It was absolutely HUMONGOUS and filled to bursting with sour cream, cheese, meat, and scallions. As you can see in my pics, it's as big as my hand. I shared with 2 friends, and we still couldn't finish. You could def take home leftovers for another meal :) overall, this is a cute mom and pop establishment with a solid menu. It has all the classic items, including their original barbeque sauce developed by the cook, and the interior was clean with plenty of seating and even a TV. I'll def be back to dine-in or even to grab something to go!
