Chef Sky is a genuine down to earth person that deserves all the success! He puts his heart into his food and puts a creative spin on his menu that is executed phenomenally. His innovation with food and his incorporation of interactive gastronomy (you get to blow your own smoke bubble on your dish!) is very refreshing to experience especially in this age of cookie cutter omakases. Normally you would never expect to see ingredients like pork floss or lao gan ma on sushi — however he did it. He put them on sushi and it was such an unbelievably wonderful combination. He also included a piece of his story in his menu — homemade laksa. He showed a lot of thoughtfulness in the quantity and the contents of the laksa (like not including too many carbs/protein), knowing that it is a heavier soup that he incorporated about a third through the omakase. I was immaculately satiated by the last course so in the end, the portion and pacing of the courses was perfect. It was truly an honor to spend the night dining and chatting with Chef Sky. His inventive take on his cuisine really makes him a gastronomic visionary. We will definitely be returning and giving him our love and support!

Had the best time here! I've done some omakase before and this experience was extra memorable, not just for the amazing food, but our interaction with the chef and his equally amazing wife! 100000% recommend this place to anyone looking to have an unforgettable experience! Looking forward to coming back with more friends/family!

Amazing omakase and Chef Sky is always a fun time. Fun atmosphere and unlimited sake with dinner.

I went to Tins with 4 colleagues last night for dinner. Chef Sky blew it out of the park. Every dish in the 14 course dinner was unique and full of so much flavor! Two of my co-workers are very picky eaters and loved 12 out of the 14 dishes (pretty good record for people who don't eat raw fish at all!). Chef Sky entertained us throughout the meal and made sure that our sake glasses were always full. I will be back!

There’s nothing like this Omakase in all of Houston, believe me, I’ve been to alot. “This Is Not Sushi (Tins)” definitely stands on its name serving a creative, authentic, and Malaysian twist to all the cuisine! It was nice to step out of the original to something uniquely crafted. And the service was impeccable. The chef chatted with us the entire dinner making the dinner and service that more delightful. Definitely coming back.

I just want to say I am not a huge raw food Phan but going to Tins has changed my whole perspective. I have never had anything so fresh before where I can individually taste each ingredient the Chef used. Not only the food was good but what can beat unlimited sake. I highly recommend going around 8 PM because that’s where the real party starts because they have karaoke. I will be back most definitely soon.

We just finished dinner at Tins, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was excellent. Fresh, unique, and flavorful. Chef Sky is incredibly talented and hilariously entertaining. I cannot wait to go back!

My husband and I came here to experience our first omakase for our joint birthday celebration and as dramatic as it sounds, it was life changing. To be served a pre-determined menu and have no clue what was coming next was already exciting, but we were completely taken by surprise with the level of flavors and quality of fish/eel/etc that we were served. On top of that, Sky and his sous chef were so fun to talk to and get to know. It felt like we were being hosted in someone’s home while eating amazing, upscale quality food. This is definitely a place I want to bring friends and family family members to again in the future!

I enjoyed everything about my recent experience here. Chef Sky was so friendly and outgoing, and every single dish he served was excellent. He also accommodated a couple of flavor and dietary requests that we had. We came on a Saturday, and after the dinner was over we brought our own alcohol and continued the night by doing karaoke. Made some wonderful memories (though I've already forgotten some, the unlimited sake is a double-edged sword). Will definitely be back!

Came for food, left with laughter and memories. This was my first time trying TINS as I frequently drive in the area, I didn’t realize where TINS was located. Surprisingly , it was a slow night for Chef Sky so my friends and I kept him company until closing.

Unlimited sake? Unheard of at an Omakase. The perfect pairing is sushi & Sake, what more do you need?

From start to finish, Chef Sky is passionate about his craft and his ideas are innovative. Not only does the menu speak for itself, but chef Sky alone put love and passion into TINS and it shows! Don’t forget to ask him about karaoke too 🤫

Had a fantastic time at TINS! Chef Sky was super friendly and made the whole experience feel personal. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. I'd definitely come back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Pros:
1. All you can drink sake, if you’re into that.
2. Courses included uni and toro (but not O-Toro)
3. Presentation of dishes is creative and innovative, such as the smoke bubble over scallops in a wine glass.
4. Karaoke on Friday nights is always fun.
5. Service is attentive and friendly.

Cons:
1. Nothing else to drink other than sake, water, Sprite, and cognac.
2. $150/person is grossly overpriced for the amount of food you get. You will leave hungry, unless you get lucky and there is leftover fish, in which case, the chef will feed it to you, which is good.
3. For $150/person, I would have expected premium selections such as A5 Wagyu, Foie Gras, O-Toro, king crab, etc. Instead, you get pretty standard fare fish coated in sauce.

For the quantity and quality of food you get, $80 per person would have been a more appropriate price.
