Once again Tony's doesn't disappoint. Party of four at a table in the bar on Saturday night. We could actually have a conversation and see the UT / Georgia game on TV while enjoying our cocktails and wine and great salads, pasta, branzino, duck and veal chop. Oddly enough the dessert soufflés were the low point - something was “off”. Piano and singer were a fun throwback in time. Expensive but not more so than most restaurants these days that are not nearly as good.
I'd always thought Tony's was some dark, old-school steak house. Not sure why? But I went for the first time a year ago with a regular, and was so impressed that I wanted to go back. The overall experience is great--it has the right table spacing, noise level and the staff was very attentive. They did mess up our bill--first not charging us enough, then over-charging us, but it was all sorted and they were very apologetic. The foie gras on the tasting menu was life-changing!...
Tony's delivered on just about every level from delicious burrata app, fantastic filets Tony's Way, great wine selection and amazing service by about 5-6 staff. The only downside was our $48 souffle was too expensive and not very good - too eggy! We didn't see a menu and the waiter didn't give us the cost upfront. He ran thru about 20 flavors and we went with the chocolate but despite its mesmerizing presentation, the taste was less than good. Oh well - everything...
