I should’ve known when I saw every restaurant around it was packed and there were only a handful of people here. I can’t vouch for anything else, but the ramen was absolutely awful.
I’m a ramen head, I could seriously eat it everyday and have honestly tried before. I ate one bite (ok, 2 just to make sure) of the most popular choice, asked for my check, and got up from the table. I couldn’t even eat it, easily the worst I’ve ever had. The noodles were under done, and the broth was unfortunately not rich or tasty - it did however taste like whatever they wash their dishes with. I had to soak my spoon in hot water and that helped a little. Really wanted to enjoy, but it was terrible. I ended up down the street at another spot moments later that was MUCH better.
These other reviews are being extremely generous. The bar is cool, service was great, and it’s really nice looking inside. Just don’t order the ramen.

This place is fantastic! The decor and seating is very aesthetically attractive, and of course the whole theme is a Japanese izakaya style restaurant. Food was incredible. Started with grilled baby octopus on skewers, so satisfying and smoky. Karaage was fresh and crispy. Star of the show was the ramen with bouncy thin noodles and the most savory tonkotsu broth. Definitely marked this on my map of Japanese spots. I can’t wait to try their other dishes.

I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant. The food I received was bland and lacked any discernible flavor, indicating poor quality ingredients and preparation. Moreover, the service was subpar; the staff seemed inattentive and unprofessional, which further detracted from the overall dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit here was thoroughly disappointing and not worth the time or money.

My brother and I have been on the lookout for a good Yakitori spot. Oddly, it seems there aren’t too many choices in Houston. BUT, the Yakitori here is good! They actually grill with charcoal, as they should! Not sure why some places use electric? Anyone know why? It’s definitely not traditional.
Their Japanese whisky selection is also insane!

I've been to Toukei multiple times, and they food has always been delicious, but the Yakitori Don is my favorite. The chicken was grilled to perfection.

Food is missing a lot of flavor. Servers are slow and not very friendly. They charge $10 fee just to bring out your birthday cake. Don’t pick this place for any celebration, they are not welcoming.

One of my new fav spots in Bellaire. I love that they stay open late! Had a bunch of small plates: koroke (potato and crab), baked mussels, potato salad (cold), gibdara (melts in your mouth fish to share) , ebi mayo (4 huge shrimp)

I would not order this don anymore, the rice and fish only take half of the bowl, only fish and rice, also the rice is regular white rice, not even sushi rice, what is the point I order this? And no any sauce.
