Treebeards is fantastic - I have been going for years, and the food is consistently very good (both quality and taste). The salads, main courses, sides and desserts are all great - a few of my favorites are the salads (with vinaigrette), the étouffée, the baked and the fried chicken, the chicken and sausage gumbo, the squash casserole, and the brownies!

I went to this particular location located in the tunnel on my lunch break 6-21-2024. I got the special which was Chicken Fried Chicken, Dirty Rice, and Mash potatoes. I starting eating already but the presentation was messy. Overall I don’t get the hype, all of the above items I ordered lacked flavor and it was not even hot. This gives the idea that Southern food is bland and lack luster.

I used to eat at the old downtown church location back in the 1990s when I worked downtown, and this was one of my go-to places. I absolutely loved the food. Well, if anybody knows me, they know that I'm a food critic and that I visit many food establishments. Well, yesterday, Monday, June 5, 2024, I visited the Katy Freeway location, and I was highly disappointed ?. The service was good, and the location was visually inviting. But, to my surprise ? the food was very ?. For starters, the bowl of gumbo was absolutely without flavor. Not a taste of gumbo fil'eand definitely lacking flavor and seasoning (very bland). Secondly, the red beans and rice were tasteless and very bland (no seasoning), and to add insult to injury, the cornbread was very dry. The only reason I gave them one star is because the Butter cake ? was delicious ?. I will visit again for a retry.

I went the tree beard in the mall 711 Louisiana street ordered the 2 red beans and rice dishes and the beans were under cook, was surprised, because I have been going to treebeard sense the restaurant was on 315 Travis. This is the second time I have gone on 711 Louisiana street, and it will be the last. I all so ordered the gumbo, we'll be tasting it today. I also ordered two carrots cakes with we're vere good. The reason why I said this will be my last time going, is because the red beans and rise were my favorite. Be Well.
