Treebeards is always awesome. I don't work downtown anymore but am always looking for an excuse to eat here. Mondays, at this location only, they have my favorite Gumbo, Duck with Trinity and Okra. I took advantage of already being downtown and got an extra Quart to-go. The Red Beans & Rice with Sausage links are always great, so I had to get that as well. I finished up with The Chicken Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy, Dirty Rice and Macaroni and Cheese. Don't forget...
I've eaten about half of the items on Treebeard's menu (excluding the desserts) and they're all delicious. My personal favorites are the chicken-fried-chicken, both of the etouffees, both of the jambalayas, and the red beans & rice with link sausage. Their sides are all righteous as well. This is a great place to walk to for lunch with your colleagues or by yourself.
Treebeards is a downtown classic. Their downtown locations are constantly busy, and it's a well recognized name for anyone in downtown. They do a lot of things well too - just be sure you're expecting a little spice so it didn't surprise you. I like many of their daily specials, and their desserts are also a popular option. They do full cakes if you order ahead, if you have a special event.
