So we ordered our food at a counter and they ask for a tip right away before any service or food has been rendered. I had the seafood gumbo and my wife had the shrimp and grits. The seafood was not the best quality. Portions were small and none of the food was spicy. I had to add salt and pepper and hot sauce to everything. I never received the biscuits we ordered. I had to go back up to the counter for a refund because you don't get a proper waiter here despite paying a gratuity up front. Prices were high, we paid $64 for lunch for two people. I would not return to this place. Sorry

My group went here today for a wonderful luncheon and we could have conversation without feeling rushed or noise level. I had the fish, squash casserole and green beans. All were well seasoned, very tasty. We all agreed it is as repeat place,?especially with fall weather coming on. I took home gumbo, because I heard it was the best around. I agree with that. You need a sign out front, as two of our group missed it the first time. I will return.

I wasn't sure what to expect as this was an impromptu visit and I hadn't looked at the menu in advance. I had the chicken pot pie, green beans and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious!! Good, solid southern food. I'll definitely be back to try some more.

glad they opened this store in the memorial area. i've been going to the location inside the Christ Church Cathedral since the early 80's.this is another true champion featuring a bunch of southern/texas prepared by top notch cooks!again everything served is the best.theyve been around for over 40 years in houston.another texas institution. not too many places last this long. you wont be disappointed. go for it!
