The food overall was very good. I had the brisket and tried 4 different side, the mach and cheese, brussel sprouts, potatoes casserole, and the slaw, all of which were great. The brisket definitely ranks as some of the best brisket I have ever had. The reason for the 4 instead of a 5 is I also had the turkey. Although the bark pieces were great, the center was a tad dry and it was ice cold; overall I would say average turkey, but way above average brisket and excellent sides.
I expected a lot because people claimed it was really good and it was but the brisket had no flavor, the pork ribs too . I could just taste the smoke flavor. I felt like I paid too much for little portions but maybe that's just me
Ordered a 1 meat (brisket)+ 2 side plate and asked for a little sample of the turkey. The girl cutting the meat gave me a whole slice (which is fine, I guess) but they wanted to charge for 2 meat + 2 side. Okay, whatever (it's $2 more) but then they said I didn't get enough meat for a 2 meat + 2 side plate. This is a stark contrast to the original Brenham fly-filled location (which I also wrote a review over a decade ago). I wasn't trying to 'get one over'...
