The food here is hit or miss. There doesn't seem to be a recipe for the items as the same item may tastes different each time. I always ask for my food spicy but it's never spicy. The service is friendly though. The employees so seem to genuinely want you to have a nice experience. The atmosphere is where things fall apart. There is no AC, just fans blowing the hot air around and this place doesn't always smell the best. I wish this last part didn't have to be said (typed) but if you consider using the restroom here, take your own tp.

I am very disappointed to share my experience with the customer service and the quality of the food. I placed an order through Uber Eats, and when the driver arrived to pick up the food, they refused to hand it over, claiming I had not paid. I then attempted to contact them to understand the situation. The manager, as I believe, abruptly ended the call. Despite my repeated attempts to reach them, no one answered, and the phone was hung up on me. I contacted Uber support, and they resolved the issue. However, my order arrived very late, around 9:30 p.m., whereas the original order was placed at 4:00 p.m. To add to the disappointment, the food was unappetizing, cold, and had an unpleasant taste. I will not be returning.

My husband wanted some African food today and decided to choose Unique. Although it’s not always our first choice for food we appreciate the time they put into making delicious complex dishes. I had to give it a 4 star review because they forgot to give us our Nem. Otherwise, the food wasn’t bad.

I loved dining here years ago with my husband. Around that time the food was always fresh, well cooked, and the service was great.
Years past and I see the unfortunate decline. I’m not sure if there are new owners but I can’t definitely say there are new cooks which brings me to my complaint.
The food here is already spoiled. They are either selling days old meat that have not been properly reserved. You can smell the spoilage of the food before even consuming it. However, I proceed to eat it poor decision on my end. Now we are food poisoned. Sick for days. Food poison is very easy to identify the smell, the discomfort, the bathroom runs and no sleep. Especially when you haven’t eaten any other thing.
I noticed the women serving are always giggling and hackling and taking their time in the kitchen as if they’re aware of the situation. This is not okay and for you to know what you do to others surely comes back on you.
Please do not eat here and especially do not bring your children here. They will serve you whatever they have not sold previously. They do not take proper food preservation to avoid bacteria growth.

I walked into this restaurant by accident.....the food was surprisingly good. I had the grilled goat, beef and chicken stew with plantain and jollof rice. The service could have been better. The atmosphere needs work. But the food was good. Oh and all that for only $20. The portion was very generous. I will consider ordering food from them next time I am in Houston.
