We eat here several times a month and it is always excellent! Our favorites are the smash burger taco, queso blanco, kids tots, and the tikka chicken taco. We also love trying the weekly specials! Aaron and Stephanie are always super friendly and super helpful! We love seeing them!

The Mexi‑Cali Shrimp Bowl was amazing—bursting with great flavors and loaded with avocado. But the real star of the show was the Velvet Cake. I didn’t expect a taco restaurant to have such incredible cake! Don’t miss out on it.

The pièce de résistance! Whenever I visit I seek out a Velvet Taco because I know they will give me what I need. Incredible vegetarian fusion choices that keep me coming back to the counter ordering seconds and thirds even as my stomach is filled to capacity. But of course, always save room for that red velvet cake at the end!! On top of the excellent food choices (cauliflower and hot tofu tacos), I have never failed to make friends at Velvet Taco. It is a nice clean place. Friendly staff. Enough parking spots on the side and behind the building. Food is not pricey but worth it. Homeless people issue is there too. Although, homeless people are not bothering anyone but some do! It's self service but the instructions are cool.

I have been to the Velvet Taco restaurant in the Montrose area several times. My first time here was with a group. The service was fast and no errors. Food was so so because I got a tikka chicken taco. I didn't care for the rice in my taco. Later, I have been ordering fish tacos. Those were so delicious.

I think our new favorite taco spot. So many great ones in metro Houston. Delicious but not cheap. Plan on $5-6 per taco. He had a fish taco and a salmon taco. I had the cauliflower taco and a tofu taco (both veg). Trio dips/chips is also great.
