The BEST Authentic Thai Food in Houston! I am Thai and have lived here for 26 years. I’ve eaten at Vieng Thai from the old time it first opened probably around 2025, 2 decades ago, until today. The taste still is the same!
Tom is also Terrific singer! We have enjoyed his songs and his performances every Saturday. Ple, the waitress, is also very kind, attentive, and professional.
We give our highest recommendation for anyone who seeks authentic Thai food in Houston!!
Recommendation: Kia Gai noodle, Pad Thai, Beef Nam Tok, omelette, Beef boat noodle!

I crave the food from here daily. It’s a blessing to my bank account that they don’t use delivery services! So… It’s a semi whole in the wall place & when you walk in, it has a nostalgic charm/feel. Every time I’ve been, there’s always diners who you can tell are regulars. It’s BYOB & some weekend nights they have a guitarist. Now the food~ I’m picky with Asian cuisine & this place hits all the marks. The noodle dishes are never overcooked or lack “sauciness” & the curry/soup dishes are thin with an abundance of flavor! Skip the appetizers cuz you’ll want to order all the entrees & from what I’ve discovered, the vegetarian options are the best! The veggies just soak up all the flavor & spices. Must try’s~ Red Curry w/ Tofu & the Drunken Noodles w/veggies.

Sometimes word of mouth gives the best advice. Vieng Thai was recommended to us as a diamond in the rough by someone my wife met at work. She said we wouldn’t be disappointed - and she was right.
Unassuming from the outside, but inside there’s heart. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, Thai hot, spicy, rich, and perfectly balanced. The kind of dish that stays with you. Staff was friendly, quick, and no-nonsense. A table of regulars in the corner joked about sports and life - it was the kind of scene that tells you a place is home for some.
As someone who loves to cook and lives in the story behind every meal, this hit the mark. Real food, real people. Honest, delicious, and priced right. A quiet gem that’s worth seeking out.
I got the experience to eat the food with the owners and it was such a cozy environment. Food had such strong flavor and will definitely come again another time. Great find, if you’re reading this…trust me try it out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised 🔥🔥🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️👍👍
This is a true hidden gem for delicious Thai cuisine! The food is served like you’re at a 5-star Thai resort. the staff is friendly and welcoming for any questions if you’re undecided. I’ve been coming here for years and can’t believe Im just now posting on how impressed I am with this awesome restaurant. Highly recommend this place!
Consistently flavorful food.
Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but this is the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Noodles were drenched in oil, chicken was dry, flavor was mediocre, and they never asked how spicy I’d wanted my noodles. It wasn’t spicy enough.
This place right here OMG Delicious delicious delicious delicious and so fresh every time I have been.

Don't let the rough exterior fool you . The food is amazing .
Let me start by saying my 1st GF was thai and we spent a month in Thailand. Her best friend owned a thai restaurant so I am spoiled when it comes to authentic thai food.
1. Ordered Chicken satay which is grilled in a delicious sauce and served with a onion, cucumber sauce and peanut sauce. They brought out deep fried chicken satay. I don't eat seed oils for many, many health reasons.
2. My friend ordered a seafood dish with squid, shrimp and fish. The steps squid was surprise chewy which you know that means it's under cooked, the shrimp were okay and the fish was fishy tasting.
They did take the chicken satay and the seafood dish off the bill so that's why I'm giving them a 2.
I ordered the panang chicken curry which was okay, my son ordered the pad ka pow with beef, his was tasty.
The server didn't smile once and no manager came over to offer an apology. So cute these several reasons I have them a 2.
forever a favorite.
Been there many times, the food never disappoints. Plaa Pad Ped is a favorite and best in Houston, and that is coming from a Thai native. Also the Yam Woon Sen is very delicious. Servers could be a little more friendly but are good.
