The chef has a note on the door telling everyone how it is. I guess most people didn’t read the door before coming in cuz quite a bit of people walked out because of the long wait to just order. And the chef is right it is a long wait. Make sure you go with good company. But the wait is well worth it. Great portions for the prices. The taste is out of this world. Everything we ordered was perfect. Probably the best chicken sandwich on this planet. The crispy, crunchy, well seasoned batter he uses is like nothing I’ve ever had. The sauce on the chicken is fantastic. Just everything about that sandwich will knock your socks off. The pickles, the slaw and the bread. The drinks they offer are really good fruit juices.

So full disclaimer I didn’t try the food! But it did look really good based on what the people around me ordered.

Things They Got Right:
- Really friendly staff. We had a large party and I never felt like we were being neglected. They were very attentive.

- Again food and portion looked and smelled good but I didn’t try it.

Things They Got Wrong:
- Outside of building and the plaza itself looked abandoned. I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place or not.

- Upon walking in the front area where a Bar should be looked dingy, dirty, and nasty. Furthering my suspicion on if I was in the right spot or not.

- Went to the restroom and it was OK, but like the rest of the building it looked extremely old and dated. They’re only two stalls in the women’s restroom in both stalls. Ran out of toilet paper. One stall didn’t have any toilet paper at all. Then the other stall had just a tiny bit left.

- I’m not sure if it was the boots that I was wearing, but the hole of the restaurant floor seem very sticky. Someone else who I was with was having the same problem. Everywhere we walked. Our shoes was stick to the floor. Especially for me in the restroom.

- Based on the overall feeling of the place, seeming unsanitary. I didn’t try the food. I was very concerned that I would get food poisoning so I just didn’t wanna take a risk.

PS: I thought two ladies were a party that I was looking for, but they weren’t. Upon talking to them, they asked me if I had ever eaten here before and I said no. They had a look on their face of concern. Just like I did, but I didn’t wanna be negative so I didn’t say anything. About 3 mins after joining my party, I saw that those two ladies left and didn’t order anything. So my point is, it seems I wasn’t alone in the feeling that the place looked a bit sketchy as far as being sanitary.

Incredible food. From the first spoonful of gumbo, I was completely hooked. The food took a while to arrive but it was worth every second that I waited. The sticky chicken and cornbread were also rave-worthy, each dish was very well seasoned and the flavors were beyond rich. I thoroughly loved every bite and will be back for more.

Excellent food! Plan on staying 2 hrs. But your food is fresh, cooked just for you when you place your order. Grab a bottle of wine or glass, or beer. It’s good to have actual time to slow down, talk or laugh about your day.
Our experience was good, got there at 6pm on Friday, given a beeper and it’s used for when you can place your order. Which we placed at 6:30. Appetizer ( huge pretzel with blue crab dip, real good) came out at 7:45p. Then about 15min later the food came to the table. Food does not disappoint.
Was not loud, nice to be able to hear.
Will return!! Not for everyone if your in a hurry.

We went there last Thursday for dinner. Upon arrival we were turned away and told that they were closing due to lack of employees.
They should never have opened their restaurant without the proper support. Very disappointed.

There's no lie...the food is great here at Viola & Agnes but the service sucks. It takes forever to be waited on, then another hour to put in your order, and another few hours to get your food. I have gone to this place twice. I went on the weekend and they couldn't handle the crowd therefore people were not getting waited on, then again through the weekday (when things are more calmer and not many customers), and they still can't handle a few customers. Today, 10/31/2024 we waited 15 minutes to be waited on and then was told we would have to wait longer because they are short staffed. This is unacceptable. Hire reliable staff. There we sit in a nearly empty restaurant and can't be waited on. One of their question is what did I order (nothing), they weren'ttaking orders. How much did I spend $0, as they were not serving food or taking orders. As you can see I'm very upset. When my mouth is watering for good food and I'm in a restaurant where you can't get food.... what the word. Horrible customer service.

Arrived at 2:15 pm not knowing today it was opening at 3pm. Decided to just wait out the in the car. Saw an employee arrive at 2:45pm. around 2:55 pm I got off to start a line going as did 4 others. At 3pm more cars pulled in and ask if they were open yet.
At 3:10 tried to call and see if they were opening. No answer. Then at 3:20pm looked in the glass door an employee was standing and talking to someone I waved and he looked at me but didn’t acknowledge me. I know the door as a huge sign asking for patience but come on now at least have customer service to let us know your running behind.

The gumbo, the fried okra, the sticky chicken, cornbread, and a iced tea and lemonade bar. Everything was better than I even expected. The only downside, I only have one stomach. Took home lots of leftovers, Will def. be back!

We went to Viola & Agnes Neo Soul Cafe restaurant tonight. We saw reviews of people complaining about service and long lead time of receiving their food. Here is our take on this fantastic home cooked restaurant. 1. Greated immediately as we walk into door. Very polite and well mannered young lady. Asked us we had been here before we stated, no. She then explained to us the process of how to order, get your own drinks etc. and handed us a handheld token that when it buzzed we could go to counter and order. So first impression of service was GREAT! 2. Approximate wait time between 20-30 minutes. All good here. 3. Appetizers did take a little long getting to us before the main course was brought (only complaint) but was excellent when we received the very large pretzel with crab cheese dip and mustard sauce. 😋😋😋 4. Main Course Gumbo, Fried Catfish Sandwich and Chicken n Waffles. Everything once received was EXCELLENT ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Now I must admit I did not read the sign before entering the door. It wouldn’t have made any difference to me anyway. Some folks these don’t understand that good things come to those who are patient and wait. See attached pics. Again excellent food and service here! Please read the sign at the entrance of the restaurant. If you don’t then stop complaining about the wait! Great restaurant with outstanding food! ❤️❤️❤️

The hostess's are especially nice and very accommodating. The wait for food is far TOO long. I contacted the restaurant about a dish. Given a time and once there, given a different answer. Nor were the ladies made aware. I wish this place well, but if service continues in this manner, won’t be in business for long. There are too many great places to eat, in and around this area. As I waited, noticed many tables in and outside with no food, only drinks. The poor ladies had to keep reassuring that meals will be arriving shortly. After one and a half hours,
I was happy be walking out with my expensive food and ready to drive back towards Beaumont. If you are short staffed in the kitchen, please say so. Customers will be more understanding. Best wishes.

It took 1 1/2 hours from the moment we got there to get our food. These people are in no hurry to serve you or stand to tire needs. We will never go back.
