Great Ice House! Very nice staff, many, many choices of traditional and craft brews. The Mexican food truck across the street that makes original Barbacoa. So go get some tacos and take them to the Ice House and get a couple of craft beers to drink with them.

A chill dive bar with a great beer selection, and a large patio. The taco truck across the street is legit.

Returning to Houston after over two decades, I was heartened to see West Alabama Ice House still standing strong amidst the rapid urban development that's reshaping the city. This place is a testament to the unique charm of Houston's ice houses, a concept that seems rare outside of Texas but is an essential part of our local culture.West Alabama Ice House doesn't try to be fancy or trendy, and that's exactly its appeal. It's a no-frills, down-to-earth spot where the focus is on simple pleasures: hanging out with friends, enjoying a cold beer, and partaking in games like cornhole and darts. The laid-back atmosphere, complete with picnic tables and friendly faces, makes it a perfect place to unwind and reconnect with the community. It's a reminder of the Houston I remember - unpretentious, welcoming, and distinctly ours. In a city that's rapidly changing, West Alabama Ice House feels like a bastion of the old spirit, a place where you can still grab a cold beer and just enjoy the moment. As urban sprawl continues to transform Houston, places like West Alabama Ice House become more precious. They're not just bars; they're cultural landmarks, reminders of a Houston that's slowly fading. So, if you're looking to experience a true Houston ice house, or just want a laid-back spot to chill with friends, West Alabama Ice House is a must-visit. Let's cherish and support these local gems before they get lost in the wave of urbanization.

Popped in on Sunday evening 11/26. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes and the bartender on that shift (female) was too busy talking to her co-worker and watching the TV screen. She did not even turn her head and acknowledge her bar or me. I walked out! Will never come back!!!

Good vibes. Good music.. amazingggg tacos. Would recommend if you like lowkey bars. No hard liquor just beers and wines.

Great icehouse style bar. Just beer no alcohol. Most of the seating is covered but it largely a patio style bar. There are good lonestar Talbot prices. Taco truck across the street is excellent for a bite and there is the usual tamale patol out.

The bartender, Ashley, is nice enough. The fact that their happy hour ends at 5pm and only includes Miller Lite is a turn off. $7 for a 12oz can of decent beer is pretty disgusting. This place *used* to be a legit neighborhood hangout, but I'm not sure who can afford $7 a beer. Good for you if you can! Just a low frills, expensive (for no reason) place. Too bad.

Solid place to have a beer or four. Relaxed crowd. Good service. Lots of TVs for game day.
