This WAS a great place. I especially enjoyed their Kung Pao Beef. Unfortunately, they posted this:Yao Restaurant & BarFebruary 18, 2022"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you we have closed permanently. Houston has been our home since May of 2005 and we would not have been able to do that without your continued support over the last almost 17 years. "

Love this family friendly restaurant. Our favorites include the lomein chicken, the mooshu chicken and the hot and sour soup. Fun to the basketball memorabilia from the days when Yao Ming played for the Houston Rockets. Check in for a free eggroll.

This was my first time there . I was the only customer, the service was awful, never had my ice tea refilled, there was no extra plate for food, the food was the worst I ever had ( I eat out a lot), it seemed as the chicken had died of NATURAL CAUSES!!! , when I mentioned it to the wait person said “ Sorry”and walked away . I should have listened to my 98yrs old Chinese neighbor RIP for not going there.

It is with great disappointment that I found out Yao's is permanently closed. Went there today and they have a big sign CLOSED and an 8x10 that said Thank You for 16 years, but we are now closed My friends and co-workers loved this place and dined here at least once a month. This darn Covid and people losing their jobs, and the HIGH inflation is affecting so many people and businesses, and it's just so sad to see.

We were apprehensive when we walked in as it was literally empty at 1 pm on a Saturday. However the lunch specials didn't disappoint in quantity or quality. Service was quick as expected. We had the fried cheese wontons as appetizer, Mongolian beef, combo chow mein and combo fried rice. Everything was great.

We are visiting Houston and decided to try this restaurant. Both food and service are great. We ordered sweet and sour fish, meat ball, green mustard, and Kao Fu. All of them are authentic. The portion is good too. It's fun to see the basketballs with signatures.

Consistently great. Both the service and food. Excellent lunch specials. We are definitely returning again.

Visited YAO'S for the first time. Placed a to go order for the combination fried rice with 4 meats; beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp. The staff was extremely nice. The rice was really, really good. Very large portion. I will definitely return. I recommend you give them a try.

My favorite restaurant needs an update. This is the best Chinese food in houston , best staff, but the decor and appeal of the place is old and outdated. Sorry.

It’s been awhile I have not had the chance to stop by this place but I did last night and their Peking duck, yum, still the same as it is. The skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy and tender, on top of that you get to see the chef cuts the duck right in front of you. The price is reasonable since the quality of the duck is just awesome. Our server was hilarious and attentive. I’ll have to come back more often.

Ordered Yao’s for pickup on the website and they said they would not comp the 2 dollar difference they were falsely advertising on the internet. Amy tried blaming it on the website guy but I could car less. You guys are running a business and couldn’t comp a 2 dollar misunderstanding due to your mistakes. Are you guys running a business here or what? Yao Ming would be disappointed.
