Drove over an hour from Houston to get here just to find out that they were not open during their business hours. Instead they had a had written sign on the door. We called prior to driving there but there was no answer. We now see why. Yikes!

My niece wanted to try fufu so me and my sister brought her here. What an experience! Food was fresh, homemade and made to order. The plantains were the best any of us had ever had and that’s saying a lot bc we were raised around many islander friends. The owner was so much fun and spoiled us silly. If you’re looking for authentic Ghanaian food that will make your taste buds dance, this is the place!

I am not happy with this place at all. I called their phone for over an hour, but no one answered. I drove 40 minutes to the restaurant with my guest, only to find it closed in the middle of the day. Apparently, the county has shut them down, and they didn’t bother to update their hours online.

Went here for my mom's birthday dinner, we got the kebabs with the jollof rice, it was great and had the right amount of spice. Will be coming here 👍

The food was good, and the protein portion was light. The tea was also good, they where out of a few things on the menu or no longer offered them.

Traveled a long distance to enjoy this restaurant and it was so worth the drive. Can't recommend just one dish, but the suya meats (goat and chicken) were fabulous. The flavors made my mouth and soul happy. This is not a place for rushed dining. Ask for Jongo juice too! Music and atmosphere are a relaxed vibe. Thank you to Alex and Laurette for a blessed meal 😉

Terrible experience. We ordered the whole tilapia fish and it looked more like crayfish – tiny, dry, and nothing like what was advertised. The suya was even worse – it looked and tasted like soaked cloth, completely unappetizing and tough to chew.

This place is a joke. Everything we ordered was a massive disappointment. Not only was the food inedible, but it was also wildly overpriced. We left feeling frustrated – wasted money, wasted effort, and wasted time.

Zongo does a disservice to West African cuisine. Avoid this place at all costs.

I wish I could give zero star. First of all the people giving 5 stars are probably family members. Worst food my family and I ever had. Rotten suya, countable and scattered suya, uncooked fried plantain. The spicy sauce is shito . I have never leave a review before but I couldn't help it . My gas ,money and tkme wasted.

EVERYONE!!!!! If you haven't been to this place you don't know. AMAZING is all I can say. Everything on my plate was spiced /cooked correctly and simply delicious and plentiful! The food is made from scratch so if you have a problem with wait time call in your order. You will not be disappointed!

Ghanaian restaurant in Houston, how exciting for my family and friends after seeing a TikTok video of Zongo.
This past weekend, after enjoying our regular boat ride on Lake Conroe, we ditched all the Lake's restaurants to visit Zongo, which is 62 miles, 1 hour and 20 minutes from The Woodlands. Thirteen of us, 4 SUV's, were ready to enjoy some good Ghanaian food.

Upon arrival, we were hit with a service fee for our large number. Wow...very surprising as we are here to support you. We decided to put a quick order for 3 kids. Only one meal showed up; the other 2 did not. When we confronted the manager, she blamed the order process. Regardless, it’s one table; we expect delivery at the same time. All 3 had to eat from the same plate until the other 2 were served later

We were also informed that they couldn't split the check, which was unusual for group dining, so we questioned them. The owner’s dismissive attitude was frustrating, even suggesting she could cancel our order. Yes, she did say that to us. One friend joked that we should have dressed fancier to be treated better, but that’s not our style.

I came to realize all they wanted was the service fee, and all of a sudden they could split the check if we paid the fee. I agreed to cover the service fee so they could split the check since we were all buying different things.

Despite some wanting to leave, we chose to stay and give it a try. I guess you will understand if we didn't spend what we planned to. Kudos to Alex, our waiter; I would have made him a big offer if I owned a restaurant. I left a tip because of Alex.

Some of us work with a good number of clients, and it's said we can't make any referrals.

Overall, the food presentation was okay, but the management’s service left much to be desired. I hope this was just an off day for them and suggest revisiting some policies; while at it, please take care of the men's restroom. You know what I'm talking about.

below is my check out of 4 checks.
