The chicken Cancoon is so good. I get it every time I go and have done so for over 20 years.. (wow, realization), but this is the first time I have ever come to this location, as just a few weeks prior to my visit, I didn't even know it existed, until I ordered delivery from d**rd**h. When the delivery arrived, I was kinda embarrassed and told my family that my portion didn't look good, but it's good. I got enchiladas for my daughter, and she enjoyed them. My excuse was that it was a d**r d**h delivery and you know, you pay highest price to have that food delivered, but it's never as good as it usually is in the restaurant. Anyways, so family night out, and I was thinking about this plate all day. So here we go. Good sign that there were cars in the parking lot. Not as well lit as I would prefer, so before dark outing is better. Entering into the dining area, the floor is divided into two sections. To the left of the entrance, you had to take several steps down to enter, but they were sitting mostly everyone in the upper section. I'm not sure how they are segregating diners. But to sum it up, my plate arrived, and while it was good, the presentation was out of the box and a little disappointing. My daughter got Charo beans, and when I tasted them, I couldn't decide what they tasted like, but they were sour and bitter. I was hoping to make this place a go-to for my family, but it missed the mark for the ladies in my life, as it felt like eating at a not so good cafeteria.Parking: Not well lit.

I have always loved Montereys. The service is what always made this place amazingly enjoyable! However, my 1st visit to this location I regret. I had to remind the server 4 times to bring chips with our salsa queso that got cold waiting. My partner burned his fingers on his plate, and my plate was cold when we got our food. None of the chip servers came to refresh our chips, and our waitress never came back. The salsa queso was good. But the steak n shrimp plate was below mid. Tough flank steak, store bought shrimp and hard rice. Covered in sour cream curdle sauce is diabolical. The steak was smothered in Ranchero sauce that was bland. My "create your own combo" was wack! It was giving frozen dinner vibes. The enchiladas were cold, the taco was cold, and the chalupa was nothing more than cheese on a fried corn flat tortilla. All of it blan as hell!Thank God my partner is a righteous man because I wanted to walk out!! For $52, I should have gone to another restaurant.

Usually the servers are great and knowledgeable, but when I got there last Friday the male server who was assigned to our table was terrible. He doesn't know the menu or the alcoholic beverages they have. I was in no mood to have any of my order messed up. So I went to the front and asked for a different server. They went ahead and got us a new server who actually knew the menu and drinks. The rest of our time spent here was great. Food is always good. My beer was ice cold and everyone at my table enjoyed themselves. So overall I always leave happy from here.

I have no words. I have never had such bad mexican food in my life. I get that you get what you pay for. I had the enchilada dinner and my husband had the fiesta dinner. It tasted like a tv dinner. We also had house margaritas, it tasted like mostly mix. Definitely will not be back. We will be heading to El Ranchero next time we want some cheap mexican food.
