Called to place an order 12 minutes before closing. (We live literally 500 yds from door.) told her that I was on my way. She put me on hold for 9 minutes and never came back. WHATS HAPPENED to the world of customer service. This place is doomed.
Food was even prettier before I carried it home. Blue cheese burger was awesome. I've had the Diablo burger before and was super good. It's not the fastest place to get food but you can tell it's all made super fresh. Burger pattie was super tender and moist. Well worth the wait.

Came in at 2:20 pm on a Saturday - online it says they close at 3 pm on a Saturday. Was told they weren't serving anymore food - something about they already closed and they have new owners or something... I will be reporting this listing to Google for fake business hours. Super inconvenient for people that drive miles to get there. Updated your online business information. It's 2024. Not sure if I'll be stopping here again for food.

The Hunt Store a/k/a The Hunt Community Center is back! The food quality is excellent, staff is wonderful and the new ownership folks are like family! Come experience for yourself! More great things on the horizon!

Lots of selection, food , beer , snacks , ice cream and treats.
I just had some gumbo that was absolutely the best I’ve tasted in or around this area- those seafood places in kerrville need to be shown how to make gumbo like that! Wow! Great Job!

The cheese pull on the flatbread was impressive. And the chips were crisp and salty.

I have lived in Hunt for 4 years now. I can call myself a local now I suppose. I have dropped in at the store to get gas, I grab gourmet coffee, grab a drink, and grab a bite to eat, and enjoyed the entertainment when it was offered many, many times over the past four years. When they had the meat market, we bought all our meat there. We have been pretty loyal customers... not tourists. We visit year round, not just during the summer months. They have a sign posted on the door AND I CAN READ. It says the restroom is for customers. I am coming in from town. I needed to fill up before heading up to my house. I chose not to fill up in town, but at the store. While filling up, I ran in the store to use the restroom. I had no idea when I ran in, I was being stalked. When I came out, I was immediately informed that the restroom was for customers. Ironically, I was a customer and, more ironically, I have been a customer for 4 years. This employee was too lazy to even peek outside and see if I might have been filling up with gas.... she instead just jumped my @ss. Guess what.... I will choose to do my business not at the store anymore. Yep, this one person and her family, which will not make a difference to you, will not buy her gourmet coffee there, not fill up with gas, will not eat, grab a drink heading back to her house from town, and will not bring or recommend any guests or family members to patronize your establishment anymore. The food is still great! But, over the four years that we have lived here, we have watched the store go downhill. This is a perfect example of it. They used to have great, fun, welcoming folks running it and it was such a great place to come to. Now, it has the POTTY POLICE waiting at the front door.
I looked this place up because our hotel was closer to Hunt than any other town around and thought they might have breakfast tacos or something similar. Loved the decor, the fact that they still sell cane fishing poles and worms, and that they're a community gathering place. Didn't love not finding anything really worth eating for breakfast. Wouldn't mind trying the flatbread some night though.

This eatery is located inside The Hunt General Store which is directly on the side of Hwy. 39 in Hunt. You can't miss it. It is a rustic building with rustic décor. Parking is on the side and front in graveled parking areas. There is a good size dining room as well as a large covered outside area with long table seating. The tables are large wood tables. You order at the counter in the back of the building. They offer a daily special and the day we visited it was Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and green beans ($14.99). The one page menu has a decent selection of items. We ordered The California Chick burger which was grilled chicken served on a large butter bun with lettuce, tomato, mayo, pico de gallo, and avocado. Along with this was home fried chips. The bottom bun was a little soggy, the chicken was cooked nicely and the ingredients were fresh but the avocado would have been better sliced rather than a half avocado. The chips were perfect. The other order was the Texas Sized Hamburger and it was served with lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard on a 1/2 lb. beef patty which was cooked perfectly. It also came with the home fried chips. This is a very casual atmosphere and self serve drink station. The pricing is fairly average for a tourist type area.
I saw this restaurant on Daytripper. Drove quite a ways to eat here. The Staff made me feel that we were inconveniencing them to place an order. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and loaded fries. The sandwich was on the small side and dry. The homemade chips were a little overcooked. The fries were really good, and the saving grace of the meal. We would not stop here again.
as a recient ex employee and somebody that has pride in the food service industry and somebody that has pride as a hunt native I went in there with an open agenda to put my mark on a bit of History to see what I could do I'm an experienced chef of 15 to 20 years I have a culinary degree and I have never seen a kitchen so dirty and disgusting like I have at the hunt store their employees really don't care they're only there to make a paycheck nobody has food handlers certifications and I'm not even sure if they have safe serves they don't rotate their food and they don't even scrub and clean their kitchen I did all I could to get up to the manageable standar but it was hard cuz nobody took ownership or put any type of passion or commitment into cleaning I cleaned black mold out of reach ins where they store their food and they don't move any of their equipment to clean the floors like it's supposed to what they do is they clean their kitchen every 3 months and leave everything underneat h their equipment and in their refrigerators so as a precaution be careful of what you eat there cuz the kitchen lead Frank even served bad pork and was given a hooked up amount just to get rid of it so they won't lose a profit I as a hunt native would think that somebody would have pride in the establishment since it's been there so long but they don't so be careful the main thing they lack is commitment experience and proper training. I'm not an angry or disgruntled ex employee im a Hunt Native that takes pride in my work I have pictures
Nice atmosphere, simple and nice. Good menu. Among the three of us we enjoyed the brisket sandwich, pulled pork, and the combo sandwich with brisket and sausage. All were very good and very reasonable. Their homemade chips are good too. Went back again while we were still in the area!
The hunt store serves burgers and BBQ. I had the chicken diablo with pepper jack cheese, bacon, jalapenos, etc. Excellent. My friend had the shredded pork sandwich and could only eat 1/2 because it was so big. Live musica out on the patio. Nice staff and friendly service.
