Great restaurant. Attentive wait staff and cool museum at the restaurant. Pancakes a bit chewy

While antiqueing in downtown Huntsville, TX, my family and I, 7 total, actually stumbled on the Cafe Texan. It was quite a surprise to find this small outpost of culinary delight on a rather quiet street . corner

First visit since the remodel/upgrade. Huge change from the old, dark Cafe Texan I grew up with. Looks great and the food is still what I remember. Delicious!

Such a unique and delicious experience on the square in downtown Huntsville. The food was sooo good and the service was excellent! The museum area is an added bonus to the dining experience, filled with both local and global artifacts to enjoy!

Great traditional spot with excellent food. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and it was absolutely tremendous—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The green beans with bacon and the mashed potatoes were also really good and rounded out the meal perfectly. The local team I was dining with loved it too; several people ordered the same dish and were equally impressed. A couple others tried the hamburger on a pretzel bun, which also went over very well. Overall, a fantastic meal and a place I’d gladly return to.

I have a special diet and they accommodated amazingly! It was so good! The chef checked on us, it was a wonderful experience. My friend said the mushroom brown gravy was the best she's ever had!

Very busy day for staff, almost every table was occupied.
We came here because it's the oldest café in Texas. I love cafes, unique diners, etc and this is definitely one of those! It's small, right in the heart of downtown so you can walk to the sights nearby. The service was spectacular on a Wednesday morning. The food was SO good! Generous portions especially for the prices, and these days everything is so high. It tasted fresh and homemade. I will definitely be going back when we go through town, might even make the drive just for the food!
