I don't recommend this restaurant because its closed. Real hard to eat there when it's permanently closed.

I only dine here when I visit my sister a few times a year and it has become my favorite place to eat in Hurst. We don't have The Dixie House Cafe anywhere close to where I live so I miss going there when I have to leave my sister and go back home. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and hot when it's served. I am a big fan of this restaurant! Can't wait to come back!

Recommended dishes: The gravy and biscuits are exceptional as well as the French toast. I love the sausage patties also because they are the size and thickness that sausage patties should be. ( Not the large bulky sort that looks like it hasn't been fried well.) Desserts are delicious especially the peach cobbler.

Trying a new place in town with the Hubby tonight. The food was average. The atmosphere was average, pretty standard service, nothing spectacular until it came time to pay. As this being our first time, we were not aware that there is a 4% fee for a card purchase vs cash. As me being a money conscious customer, I felt like I was mis-led and lied too regarding this up charge. If it was communicated before hand, I would of made arrangements to accommodate, no problem. But since this wasn't communicated, it caused a unnecessary rift between them and I, that cost them future business. The waiter rudely took my card without telling me what he planned to do, ( thinking this is customary ), ran the card, then proceeded to argue about their poorly posted policy. All together, they were rude, unpleasant, very unwelcoming, and I felt like they set the standard for all other locations within this food chain! AVOID AT ALL COSTS WASTE OF MONEY WATE OF TIME !!!!

My family has been eating at Dixie House locations for probably 15 years, since the H‑E‑B location first opened in Euless (prior to relocating to Hurst). Went to eat there today and noticed how empty it was. This place used to be busy all the time. Upon receiving the bill it became obvious why it’s dead… the prices. The food is still decent and the service is still friendly (our waitress was excellent) but we could’ve eaten at a steakhouse for what we paid. The rent in this new location must be ASTRONOMICAL because for 3 whiteboard specials, 3 drinks, and 2 banana puddings we paid $68 and they charged us a $3 fee for paying with a card. $71 for food that is prepared in the morning and kept on a warmer all day? At these new overinflated prices, Dixie House is just not worth the cost anymore. Last time patronizing this establishment.

This place was overpriced for what it was. Our server forgot some things that we asked for and seemed a little preoccupied with other tasks likely due to staffing issues. She was not rude or anything just preoccupied. The chicken-fried steak seems to be a popular selection here. There used to be a place in East Dallas with the same name but this is definitely not the same place. The food was average and not worth the additional cost when you can find these dishes elsewhere cheaper. It was not packed when we were there only maybe 4 tables of people. Nothing to write home about. We do not plan on going back.

This place is a one of a kind place to eat! The inside of the place is like a larger mom and pop restaurant. The food is always good! I had the meatloaf sandwich and it was delicious with fries. We had the millionaire pie for dessert! OMG absolutely the best I've ever had! The service is excellent! There is always someone coming by to refill tea, coffee or just making sure ur good! If you've never eaten here you definitely need to try it!! It's one of my favorites!

Order breakfast Taco with sausage, egg and cheese. The price was ,$13. I should have asked if you get 2 or 3? When it came out there was 1 served on a small plate, it was the size of a regular Taco. So I asked the cashier if that price was correct for 1 Taco and she said yes. So I told her I can't believe if I ordered 2 it would have cost $25!!!! Absolutely ridiculous.

We were in area and decided to stop in after seeing positive reviews on Yelp and Nextdoor. The staff was wonderful and the menu had the usual offerings. The prices were a little shocking, especially since so many retirees post about it being their affordable, go to place. Posting a pic of their a la cart section. We went ahead and ordered, avoiding the a la cart items....like the $13.95 biscuits and gravy. While waiting for our food, we had company.....in the form.of a roach. We left, so I cannot tell you how the food was, or if it was worthy of the pricing. We left and went to Bacon's Bistro, which is excellent and their side items are a 3rd less on average. Sorry to keep harping on the a la cart prices, but damn!

This place is a ripoff! Burger alone was $15 and were two small premade patties that were just awful! Oh, and fries were an extra $6+! There were 4 of us that ate and they got one of orders wrong. We should have known by the empty parking lot that there would be issues. I'll never eat here again!!!

Went for breakfast, service was friendly and prompt. Menu prices for diner food was exorbitant particularly the ala carte choices and add-ons or subs. Likely wouldn't return.

Food was.delicious but too salty for me. Some people would just think it's delicious; but why does everything have to have so much salt? Great service, we'll be backVegetarian options: Fried okra, green beans, mac& cheese is delicious, mashed potatoes, corn

This place has decent food but is insanely expensive. We're talking $7 for an extra biscuit. $7 for two tortillas. I think I saw a side of sausage was like $10. It's wild. Then, if you want to use a credit card, they tack on a 4% credit card fee. Definitely won't be going back.
