The menu has a lot of variety with some options that sound interesting and delicious. All of their dumplings are good but you HAVE to try the soup dumplings...so good!
Good food that is reasonably priced makes it difficult to beat.
DO NOT GO HERE! I’ve never left a review like this but I think it’s important to warn others of the nasty experience I had. We were seated and 10 minutes after a big flying roach came across a lady sitting at a table next to ours. She freaked out and tried to swat it away. Very gross. Shortly after, there was ANOTHER big sized roach by my foot. So disgusting. We didn’t even get to order our food at this point and we already witnessed 2 roaches flying & roaming around. And the place looks dirty too. We ended up leaving and the staff looked at us surprised which idk why, do yall not see the roaches here or the lady freaking out at the roach? Truly disgusting, don’t go here. Our friends birthday experience was ruined because of this.
Well first off the water was gross tap room temperature water. The food was okay. The place was a lil old looking kind of dead for 1:30pm on a Saturday. It was so quiet me and my friend were whispering
I was nervous bc I read reviews of roaches didn’t see one
But will I be back?? NO

PLEASSEEE DO NOT EAT HERE! We literally sat down for 5 minutes and saw roaches. We walked out immediately when we saw them.
Honestly, I don’t even know how many stars I should give it. Back to 12 years ago, that was our favorite favorite restaurant, and owned by a Chinese lady. Later on, after few years, that lady moved to Southlake, and a Koran family took over the restaurant, which was ok the food part. Then 2 years ago, maybe?! Owner changed again, and that was the last time we went there. A whole table of dishes, nothing was good. Entire food choices over there changed from very high-level traditional real Chinese food to American Chinese food to I don’t know what food! We never go there again after that. Was just chatting with my husband about Kunpao chicken, and reminded how good their Kungpao chicken was back to 10 years ago, and wanna write down the history here.

Fortune House was very hit-and miss.
The wonton soup tasted great. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the wontons are uniquely delicious. However, it was served luke-warm, which is a big red flag.
We tried the dumpling sampler. The pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings were both good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. The orange one (forgot what was in it) was mid, and the spinach dumpling was disgusting.
The only plate I can't complain about was the Mongolian Beef. That was sweet, savory, spicy, tender, served fresh off the grill with a hint of char.
The wait staff were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the food also took quite a while to arrive, and we were the only ones in the resturaunt.
Overall, disappointing, despite the fancy veneer and premium prices.

So I was recommended by a lot of people to go to fortune house. When you search it up there’s two Irving and Dallas. All I’m going to say is go to the one in Dallas. I walk in and staff was pretty nice we got our table and as soon and I went to sit down I saw a few fly’s. Ok cool they’re just flies. Was going to tell them to move us. But I look down to the ground where I saw this big as cockroach walking out of under a booth where some family was sitting and I lost my appetite and left. This was just my experience but this place was not sanitary. The roach looked calm like if it walks around all the time

All stars go to the staff—the service was great. Food? Only deserves one star. We ordered the pork and crab soup dumplings, but all six were stuck together, so the soup spilled out as soon as we tried to separate them. The drunken chicken and the Shanghai fried rice were both overly salty. Disappointed.

So far the best SHANGHAINESE restaurant I have visited in DFW!!! WHY? I HAVE YET to locate my pan fried pork buns from Shanghai Street food here in DFW or anywhere state side. *service was impeccable l; so much so we highly over tipped. The crab Rangoon was THE BEST EVER! We did partake in a nice lil tradition see photos! Pro tips: 1. order 3 beers per sake bottle for proper bombs....we rationed 2.PAN FRIED PORK BUNS pinch a hole to suck juices or bite a hole up top....otherwise pork juice inevitably shall ruin your clothes. If one is in dfw and looking for hands down the best.....DO IT!! value priced as well. We sat outside; service was impeccable. Busy inside we were the only table outside and service remained ON POINT. This is rare.clean restaurant. DO NOT MISS OUT!! PAN FRIED PORK BUNS!! EVERY DIDH IS FRESH...SHANGHAI DIM SUM BEST OF BEST SPOT TUCKED AWAY CLOSE TO DFW AIRPORT!!! *ALSO LARGE PLATES....want sliced jellyfish GOT IT....DO IT NOW GO HERE!!!

Stumbled onto Fortune House while searching for lunch spots in Irving and walked out a convert. Seated immediately, great service, and a waitress who steered me straight — recommended the sesame chicken and was completely right. Sesame chicken was crunchy outside, moist inside — perfectly executed. Fried rice and crab rangoons held their own alongside it. Dinner portion with fried rice and crab rangoons on the side. $27.06 before tip for food that punches well above that price point.
I’ll be honest — I’m picky about Chinese food. Fortune House earned it anyway.
SAS Verdict: Approved. One of the better lunch finds in Irving. Don’t sleep on it.

Second time coming here. Staff were nice both visits, but the food is not likely to bring us back.
The sad part is that some of the food we tried does have potential. It’s just that the execution is a bit off, which left us feeling unsatisfied.
Orange beef: I would suggest to tone down on the orange flavor; it was overpowered to the point my friend couldn’t finish, which is a shame because the beef itself had a great crisp texture. The orange flavor suffocated the meat rather than complement it.
Honey walnut prawns: Too much sauce. It was another case of overpowered flavor drowning what would have been good prawns and walnuts if they had used the sauce in moderation. Also, if the pineapple is unripe then you shouldn’t put it in the dish; it was disappointing to have hard white flavorless pineapple (I wasn’t even sure at first that it was pineapple until my friend helped confirm).
I think that if they make some adjustments to their execution of these dishes they could end up with better results. I just don’t think me and my friend will be back to see that happen anytime soon.
For anyone who wants to give them a chance and needs a recommendation, we got the chili wontons both times we visited and they were good at least. Maybe if you stick with the dim sum rather than their main dishes it will be a better experience for you. Good luck!
