Haven't had Mexican food in a while and it definitely slaps during my hungry afternoon much. My only grip with this place is that the tacos they served me were alot smaller than the ones they advertised on

Not recommended place.
I ordered half a dozen chicken tamales to go, and it turned out they were chicken tamales without chicken!
They forgot to tell me that the chicken would be only in my imagination.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Irving. We’ve had the breakfast burritos, tacos, pambazos, tacos dorados, flautas and the gorditas. Everything has been delicious! Don’t expect a big sit down area, this is the epitome of a hole in the wall and a hidden treasure! 10/10!!
Very good place, the food is Authentic Mexican Food ! The Tacos de Cabeza de Puerco are delicious and authentic, the tacos Fritos de papas are good but they need a little more flavor, la sopa de Mariscos is really good, and everything tasted fresh ! The staff are really friendly. The place is a little too small! The prices are pretty reasonable!

Today is the third time I come to this place and I love all the food, the Menudo, the pozole, the stuffed chiles, they reminded me of what my mom makes. It's really authentic Mexican food, very good service and very fast, all 100% recommended.
Wow! The food was amazing! It was definitely authentic Mexican food! Coming from the pickiest eater you’ll meet definitely should mean a lot! We had the Tacos Dorados, Pambazo, chilaquiles and a side of rice and beans that came with each plate. I wish I had more time in town to try some other plates. 10-10

The Best Cash-Only Mexican Home Cooking in Irving!
Comida casera cerca del aeropuerto DFW
After picking up a family member from the airport, their first request was for “real Mexican food.” Without hesitation, we headed to a hidden gem tucked away in a sea of apartments in Irving. Nestled in a shopping strip anchored by a Buddhist temple and a laundromat, you’ll find Pisca de Oaxaca—a liquor store that also houses a cozy restaurant.
The name, “Pisca de Oaxaca” (Oaxaca Harvest), is a bit ironic since they currently don’t offer dishes traditional to Oaxaca. Nevertheless, the food here is authentic, hearty, and full of flavor.
We arrived during lunch and sampled a variety of dishes: flautas, crispy tacos, tortas, tamales, and tacos.
Chicken Flautas: These crunchy rolled tortillas, stuffed with chicken, were perfectly served with mounds of lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and Oaxaca (mozzarella) cheese. A filling and delicious meal.
Crispy Tacos (Tacos de Papa): A traditional street food from southern Mexico, these tacos are like empanadas but with tortillas and a mashed potato filling. The potato itself is mild, but with toppings like crispy lettuce, sour cream, Oaxaca cheese, and tomato, they become a flavorful treat. Definitely add salsa—both the green and red varieties pack a punch, reminiscent of the salsas you’d find at a street food stall in Mexico.
Torta de Milanesa: This sandwich, featuring breaded beef (similar to chicken-fried steak), was generously packed with avocado, lettuce, refried beans, tomatoes, mayonnaise, and onions. A very filling and satisfying choice.
Tamal de Rajas: The masa (tamal dough) was wonderfully flavorful and reminded me of my grandma’s tamales. Filled with seedless jalapeños and melted mozzarella cheese, this tamal was both savory and filling.
Tacos de Pollo: I usually skip chicken tacos, but these were an exception. Charcoal rotisserie-style, the chicken was juicy with a delightful charred flavor, reminiscent of a perfect backyard BBQ.
Rice & Beans: Pure nostalgia. The rice tasted just like the amazing rice my mom made when I was a kid, and the refried beans were just as my grandma used to make—comfort food at its best.
If you’re craving authentic home-cooked Mexican meals and don’t have family nearby, or if you simply want to experience what Mexican home cooking is like, this is the place to satisfy that craving. I plan to return on the weekend to try the pozole (hominy soup), menudo (tripe soup, great for hangovers), and champurrado (a chocolate, cinnamon, and masa drink), which are served Fridays through Sundays.
A special shoutout to the owner, Amelia. Her kindness and passion for her food are evident in every dish—it’s the secret ingredient that makes this place special. A quick anecdote: I mentioned my interest in trying the seafood soup but had to skip it due to a mild allergy in our group. Amelia (“Emily”) brought out a small cup for me to sample anyway, and it was incredible—definitely on my list for next time.
The Flip Side: While the aguas frescas (like Jamaica and tamarindo) were refreshing, I wished they offered more flavors like cantaloupe or horchata. Additionally, it would be great to see some actual Oaxacan dishes, such as enmoladas, Oaxacan tamales (banana leaf tamales), and tlayudas, on the menu in the future.
I will be back many times, each time bringing more friends to experience this homemade taste of Mexico.
