Rudy’s, a Tex-Mex treasure in Irving is like stepping into a time machine back to the 80s when I was a kid scarfing down their magical food. Let’s be real—the building is OLD, like “might’ve been built by pioneers” old, and the shopping center looks like it’s auditioning for a post-apocalyptic movie. Peeling paint, worn-down vibes—don’t give it a second thought. Close your eyes, walk past the dated exterior, and let the food and family love take over.
The moment you step inside, the owner and matriarch of this family-run gem greets you as hostess and cashier, and it’s like walking into your grandma’s house. Her warm, welcoming vibe makes you feel like she’s personally inviting you to her dining room table. You’re not a customer—you’re family. The love in the air is as thick as their cheese sauce (more on that in a sec).
Now, the FOOD. Oh, lordy, the food! The chips and salsa are a revelation—chips so light and crispy they practically float, paired with salsa that’s hot, HOT, HOT but so flavorful you’ll be addicted, spooning it up like it’s your job. It’s clearly fresh-made in the kitchen, and the spice hits just right. The corn tortillas? A surprise star—order them, trust me, they’re soft, warm, and perfect. The enchiladas are straight-up heavenly, whether you go cheese, beef, or chicken—you can’t pick a bad one. That cheese sauce? It’s so amazing it deserves its own fan club. Creamy, dreamy, and probably made with a sprinkle of Tex-Mex magic.
Don’t sleep on the guacamole tostada—fresh, vibrant guac on a crispy base that’s a party in every bite. The tamales, made fresh in-house, are tender and packed with flavor. The crunchy beef taco? Classic, satisfying, and everything you want from old-school Tex-Mex. Every dish screams tradition and care, like it’s been perfected over decades.
Rudy’s is a family-owned love letter to Tex-Mex, and despite the tired building, the food and warmth make it a five-star legend. Ignore the outdated vibes, grab a seat, and let the chips, salsa, enchiladas, and that incredible family feel fill your soul. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit to this Tex-Mex time capsule! 🌮🔥 #RudysRules

I have been eating at RUDY'S since they opened in 1975. Family owned. ALWAYS fantastic food, service & atmosphere. I no longer live near here, but when I'm in town I always come here to eat and treat others. After 50 years it is and has been a Fantastic meal and service is always top notch!
I highly recommend Rudy's for Tex-Mex comfort food! Ishmael is doing a fantastic job of running the Restaraunt for Rudy!
Same food, same hospitality, service and atmosphere!
It has been in my top 5 for many, many years, I am so thankful Rudy has kept the Restaraunt open and still running strong! God Bless!

Let me start with, we don’t live in Texas, we’re just visiting from out of town. We spent all day driving and just wanted to grab some food and take it back to our Airbnb. I had the beef chimi and my husband had the cheese chili relleno.
The main problem was everything was covered in ‘queso’ sauce. It dominated everything. Had I known better i would asked for this on the side.
Also the Chile Relleno was like $16 for 1 small stuffed pepper… not really worth it. Would have expected at least 2 or a very large one for that price.
The salsa was tasty. Not sure I would recommend this place to anyone. but the people running it were lovely. I’m just sorry our food experience wasn’t better.
Family owned restaurant celebrating 50 years this year. Always amazing food and great staff.
This restaurant is always awesome! I have been coming here for about 40 years and everybody should try it
I've lived in the area 20 years and never had the pleasure of visiting this hidden gem...definitely a local find. I put mexican food near me in goggle and there is was, took a chance and tried a new place. The salsa has got a kick for those that have that on their needs list...and my enchiladas were yummy and very reasonably priced.
