Rue's Barbecue Barbecue • $
12420 TX-63 W, Jasper

“Best BBQ I’ve ever eaten! (And that includes BBQ from Lockhart, Austin, and West Texas.) No matter what I order, the food is consistently delish! I like the sauce but I rarely use it because the flavor of the meat is so good. The beans include pieces of brisket which adds to their yumminess. Love the potato salad and coleslaw, too! Well worth the drive.“

“The baked beans that they claimed to be homemade tasted like they came straight out of the can with nothing extra added to them. The "hot" links had good flavor, but weren't spicy enough. The sliced brisket was perfectly cooked and the sauce was a perfect match with it. The potato salad was made with sweet relish and was pretty good. Billy came out to introduce himself and was friendly...his wife's a little quirky, but friendly enough.“

“Kind of a hidden gem. For starters, it’s super cute. Very nice country decor and atmosphere. You order your food at the counter then find your own seat so don’t expect fancy. I had the Cowboy Frito Pie. It was fabulous. My hubby had a ribs plate. He’s fussy about his BBQ but he loved it. We had bread pudding for dessert. Save room. It’s worth it. I read a few reviews that said the portions are small. Huh? We both had quite a bit more than we could eat. Not the least expensive place but the quality makes it worth it. Also, the staff was super nice and helpful.“
