Maika’i Hawaiian BBQ

Just visited Katy Westgreen location for 1st time and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I ordered the chicken katsu mini meal and was so happy to find a chicken katsu which was moist and tender and not turned into shoe leather. Rice was cooked perfectly and was tasty, the cabbage under the katsu was cooked well, but the mac salad was a little bland. Best ive had in a long time including at sit down Japanese restaurants and puts Hawaiaan fast food competitors like L & L and Ono to shame. Menu was not extensive so hope everything else is as good. Dining room was clean, bright and cheery with cute large beach mural. I've lived in Hawaii and Japan, and am looking forward to another visit to try their curry.

The food was delicious. The hostess/cashier/waitress was very friendly and also very helpful. If you're looking for Hawaiian food I would strongly suggest this restaurant.

I was served raw chicken here. I do not recommend this restaurant. Mediocre service hard chairs unclean restrooms and terrible customer service.

love the food chicken katsu rocks. katsu sauce is yummy in my tummy chairs are a bit hard take it to go. grab drinks from the boba shop next door

I don’t know honestly what to say. It’s not something that is like you got to try this cause it’s a once in a lifetime experience. The best thing in my opinion is that they have a Japanese style dish called chicken katsu. However due to my disappointment they serve it raw sometimes. So it’s a hit or miss with this dish. I’m not sure if the girl is still working here. But she is very hard to deal with. Wouldn’t really recommend eating here. It’s alright but they need to work on a lot of things. The chairs are very uncomfortable and the table are very weirdly small. Like if they get the dish right and add different seating then maybe it would be a nice place. The food does make you thirsty. They have water cups which is nice. Restrooms are bad when the girl works though. It’s more of 20 dollars per person to try it out. Kitchen closes at 8:30 keep in mind of that. Max salad is really good but last time it wasn’t mix well cause my scoops were really salty compared to my partner’s. Overall I believe that there are better options for Hawaiian food.
