We had a ball! From karaoke, wonderful drinks, bomb fried fish and chicken, and the loaded fries was enough for 3 ppl to share!! They had music inside and out. We enjoyed the hookah, and pool table! They hosted our group event which held nearly 22 ppl. We danced the whole entire time coming through the door! You want to try a laid back establishment, this place definitely it!

Dive bars can often be fun, and they are often attractive due to their lower prices. Sometimes, however, they can come up short. A dive bar that falls somewhere in the middle is Southland Bar and Grill.
Looking at the positives, Southland Bar and Grill is certainly the place to go if you want to grab a drink or two for a low price. It’s going to be difficult to match these prices anywhere in the Katy area. The beer selection is lacking when it comes to craft beer options, but the prices are tough to beat. They also have abundant free parking and a nice outdoor space for enjoying the fresh air when the weather is agreeable.
But Southland Bar and Grill also has a few areas where improvement is needed. One is the food. They serve food only on certain days of the week. If they at least had a food truck on site, I could forgive this oversight, but they do not. Another issue is the lack of climate control. A portable AC unit simply cannot do the trick. They need to invest in better heat/AC control to make the visit comfortable.
Still, Southland Bar and Grill is a good place when you want a bar that is completely non-pretentious and welcoming to all. It could stand to be improved, yes, but considering the incredibly low prices and other factors, it has enough going for it to squeeze out a three-star rating from me.

It's a dive country bar.
I'm not sure what they volleyball pictures are, but I assume those are really old. This is a country bar, almost an ice house. The bartenders are really friendly and accommodating... they offer karaoke anytime! In my opinion, it's a place to go with friends to have some group hang time. They haven't ever been crowded. You can get patio time if the weather is nice.
I don't go there unless someone suggests it, but I don't go without a reason. It's too far out of the way and not exactly an inviting place.

Loved the atmosphere! Loved the DJ! The bartender actually knows how to make real drinks! I'm definitely returning here!

Place has potential. But has basically fallen into somewhere between an Icehouse and a small bar. Drinks seemed pricey for the location. But the owner was very cordial and service oriented. Has karaoke inside on Friday as well as a bar on the patio. Volleyball outside. I stopped by on a Friday shortly afternoon. And the place was basically empty. So not the best gauge. Would be willing to try again at night.
