I've eaten at Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong, and this is not even close. Cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was with the whole experience, my waiter barely spoke English, most dishes were bland and portions don't match the price being charged. There was 2 other diners there during busy serving time. I foresee this place closing down by year end.

Ok wow. So we love dim sum. Bellaire at crown, oceans are go to. This place was diff. It's a Taiwanese style 1st. 2nd. Holy moly expensive. Small portions. Small size. Each had 3 pieces instead of traditional 4 and half the size of regular dim sum places. For ex: was 10$ for a 3 piece that was Small. 10$ for 4 wings. No seasoning. My wife and I left quick. 4 plates was 35$ we left and got something else cause we were still hungry. Tbh they did taste good and the inside and staff were nice but in Houston, no ma'am haha. We will not return.

Son had been pestering me to try this restaurant for a while until I gave in. We came on a weekday around noon and the place was a little busy but I can imagine it will be super packed on the weekends. We were greeted and seated at a table for 2. You can review the menu with pictures of the dishes and write the quantity of the selection and on the paper. (Note: you will be shock at the prices of these dim sum dishes). With these prices, you would think it better be damn good. :-/
Our waiter came over and reviewed our selections; a total of 10 items. (Son is a big eater!) Our waiter asked if we wanted to sit at a booth instead with more room to put our dim sum dishes vs initial tiny table for 2 :-D
Here is what we ordered:
Hao gao: decent size shrimp filling but a bit bland; had to use soy sauce and chili oil to make it tastier
Shu mai: juicy and meaty but a bit small
Steamed scallops shui mai: it was just scallop on top of shu mai, no wow factor as the scallop did not have a taste at all
Fried spring roll with shrimp: came out oily however not bad. It should come with a sweet chili sauce to dip it with.
Cha siu bao (bbq bun): you can eat it this in 2-3 bites and it was not a traditional white bun but it has a nice amount of fillings although it was a little too sweet for me
Fried Turnip cake: came with Sriracha to dip on side; totally different texture and taste and lack seasoning. It also lacks flavor and the glutinous consistency; it was missing the minced dried shrimp/scallop and Chinese sausage which enhances this dish. Not a fan this version.
Shrimp Cheng fun: the shrimp filling was the same as the Hao gao; not much seasoning since the sweet soy sauce made up for it. When I tried picking up, all the filling fell out which wasn't wrapped properly
Steamed rice with chicken, shitake mushroom, and Chinese sausage: it was just ok, nothing special about this item but make sure to mix it to get the sauce incorporated
Pan fried chicken dumplings: the ginger essence made this dumpling better although the pork filling is best. I didn't see it on the menu
Lava custard steamed bun: nice flavor but I wished the custard would be a bit smoother, the filling was super hot so be careful to not burn your tongue
I did more criticizing than praising. Yeah dim sum snob here but just want to be honest. The prices did not match the expectations of the dim sum dishes.

Delicious Chinese food. The portions were larger than expected for a party of two. We had no regerts for the amount we ordered nor how full we felt afterwards.

First let's start with the food overall it was super good. The must tries are lava balls dessert and baked barbecue buns. Second, the service was awesome the waiters made sure we had our food. Finally the atmosphere it was okay the place where we ate our food was noisy and it was pretty clean. In the restroom there was no toilet paper in one stall and there was barely, paper towels, and there was toilet paper on the floor. In conclusion it was 4/5 stars I recommend this place the price is a bit pricey, but totally worth it. We've been to Tim Hi Wan 3-4 times it is so good.♥️You should definitely go here.

Our weekly treat is coming to Katy Asiantown and having dimsum at Tim Ho Wan. Excellent and fresh har gow, siomai, steamed BBQ pork buns, and spicy cucumber salad! Give this place a try if you're in the Katy area!
