My family and I enjoyed a delicious meal this evening at Uncle Chin’s. My 5 and 2 year old ate their best dinner in quite some time. We ordered the roti, chicken satay, Roasted Hainanese Chicken & Rice, and stir fry noodles. The owner came by our table and was very kind when my 2 year old spilled his water on the floor. Our servers were also very kind and friendly. The owner gave my kids chocolate ice cream popsicles and spinner toys. We enjoyed our time at Uncle Chin’s and will definitely be back.

We used to like Uncle Chen before we left Texas, so after moving back, we decided to drive 50 minutes one way and had lunch there.

There were about four other customers during a weekday lunch, which isn't bad, especially given the Katy location, which is a bit out of the way. There was only one server working the front--a woman who was very efficient and clearly ran things on a tight, almost military-like schedule. She handled everything well, but her demeanor felt too direct and can be off putting. She said it really loudly towards the kitchen that she prepared the rice.

The food came out in about 15 minutes, which was longer than I expected. However, I understand why--Franco, the owner, appeared to be the only one cooking and prepping food.

As for the food, the noodles were a bit too greasy for my taste. My husband enjoyed his curry, but it wasn't anything particularly memorable. Unfortunately, we both experienced some stomach discomfort afterward, possibly due to the greasiness.

Overall, we're glad we gave it another try, but this visit didn't quite live up to our previous experiences.

From the moment you walk in, the hospitality is top-tier. It has that rare combination of fast service and high-quality, home-style cooking. You can tell the team is passionate because everything is handled in an outstanding way. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and lovely people. I’ll definitely be back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This place can get quite busy, especially on weekends and during lunch and dinner hours, but it is absolutely worth the wait. The food is delicious, made from scratch with care, and you can really taste the love in every dish.

The staff are always kind and welcoming, and Uncle Chin truly adds to the heart of the place. For first-time visitors, please be patient and kind to the staffs, both seating and food may take some time, but that’s because everything is freshly prepared.

I’ve unfortunately seen a few new customers be unkind, and it’s disheartening. A little patience and kindness go a long way, especially in a place that clearly puts so much care into what they do. Highly recommended!

We have been in the Katy area for over 20 years, Uncle Chins is easily one of if not the best Asuan food we’ve had here. We had appetizers/chicken sauté , tofu with sea food and vegetables, noodles with tofu and vegetables and stir fry veggies. The best! I even got an extra order of the chicken sauté to bring home .

If you’re looking for food that feels like home, this is the place to go! Walking in you are greeted immediately with warm smiles. We were sat right away and waited on consistently the entirety of our meal. We ate the roti with curry, the chicken satay, and the chicken curry. The roti was so soft and pairs with the curry so well. The chicken satay was tender and the homemade peanut sauce was perfect. The true star for me is the curry. It’s a smooth taste from start to finish with the perfect amount of spice. The chicken is so tender it falls off the bone. The potato and egg were cooked to perfection. I have never had a curry as memorable as this. The owner, who is also the chef, comes out often to greet and check on his customers, and we had the honor of hearing him sing. He has a wonderful voice and a genuine heart that shines through his food and his restaurant. This is the perfect example of food cooked with love. It was an honor to be able to sit and chat with the staff while eating a meal that provides the comfort of home.

The food is way better than Phat Eatery which is the typical bar for Malaysian food in the area. Uncle Chin’s goes above and beyond and Uncle himself even brought the food out to our table. Everything was flavored amazingly and perfect like a homemade meal. Unmatched. Thanks Uncle Chin, we will be back 🙏
