Z&T Chinese Cafe

This really used to be one of my favorite spots to order from. Being from the east coast it’s hard to find good Chinese food in Houston however the price gouging is ridiculous!!! A while back I used to order individual kids meals and asked for veggies in the fried rice. I was expecting maybe a $1-2 upcharge but was FLOORED when I was told it would be $5 extra for a small add on of veggies to a side order of fried rice ON A KIDS MEAL. Ok let that go. Tonight was the last straw. I ordered 4 wings and a small side of shrimp fried rice. When I saw the price for the wings $6.99 I asked were they whole wings as I literally just purchased a raw tray of 8 whole Perdue wings from HEB For the same price i couldn’t imagine it was the sections. But nope it was the sections. To be clear I stated so ur charging $3 for one whole wing and was told YES!!! I turned around and left. I’ve been ordering from here for 3yrs but NEVER AGAIN! The food is good but not good enough to pay those prices.

Fantastic Chinese food that has higher quality standards than most! Clean facilities, friendly staff, more than reasonable portions, and tasty fare. The prices are also in line with what you would expect to pay for these features. Dine-in or get it to go, but don’t miss out!

We tried Z&T after hearing some postive reviews on it but my experience was lacking. Most of the food seem reheated. The dumplings were rubbery and only luke warm. The soup was obviously reheated because it needed more time as it came out like gelatin. It was also luke warm at best and not as flavorable as I'm used to. The noodles were ok but again lacking a bit of flavor. Beef with broccoli was on point and came out hot. Definitely would not go out of my way to dine here again but then again I've had worse.

The food is honestly fresh and the taste is hard for me to describe, I love Chinese food and this place is right next door so I wanted to love it my first time here but my food tasted kind of like cleaning products. I guess it’s like when you do the dishes and don’t rinse them enough. The place is definitely clean the people are so kind but I wasn’t able to finish my food and haven’t tried it again since but maybe one day I’ll try again, because it’s so close to me.

The food here is soooo good! I love trying different Chinese restaurants and this place is hands down one of my favorites. They have a mixture of authentic and American- Chinese food which I like both. The food is sooo affordable, you cannot beat it elsewhere. The staff are so nice! Such friendly people. Must try this place!
My kids love the shrimp with vegetables, chicken with broccoli, my husband likes the egg plant with shrimp and beef and my favorite is salt pepper shrimp!
