We have eaten here several times on different days and different times. Consistently good food and service at a reasonable price is their trademark We always look forward to our next visit.

Nice outdoor seating area and the food came quickly. Only a block from the water but no views. Solid Greek food but nothing amazing.

We family and I recently dined at Bakkus Taverna on a Saturday afternoon. We dine here often, but lately the service has gotten much worse. There were three servers working and only 7-8 tables max. in the restaurant. Certainly not busy. We waited forever to be seated and then waited another long while to get acknowledged at the table. Longest we’ve ever waited between server visits. We were not even offered refills on drinks. We saw one couple come in and wait awhile to be greeted and finally just left. I overheard the bartender/server talking on the phone to someone complaining that they were “busy”. These servers need at least a minimum of training to service restaurant guests. There was no owner/manager present on the day we visited. The staff desperately need some direction. Prices has gone up also. For the three of us just eating sandwiches and a dip, with no alcohol, our bill Was $70.00. We ordered a feta cheese dip, came with about 5 pita chips - not near enough for a large dip. We asked for more and were charged $2.00 Food took forever to arrive. All the food was very good, but diminished by terrible service, which is why we won't be back.

The restaurant is classic Kemah local. In Kemah boardwalk. Staff is friendly. Nice menu choices, Greek, chicken, burgers, steak, dessert, drinks. We loved the Greek meatball appetizer - marinara sauce was very flavorful (served in cup on side). Meatballs were also very flavorful and well seasoned. Tzatziki was ok. Gyro plate was very nice. Flavorful and large serving. Combo kabob was also very large with 2 skewers. Enjoyable. Desserts Baklava hands down was fabulous. Bread pudding 2nd favorite, hot, moist, and light. Great flavor. Ice cream was not bluebell. ? Filo cup with custard was also very nice. Online menu stated there was a chocolate baklava and rice pudding. But we did not see it on the menu at the restaurant. Overall a great choice to dine.

My family and I have been going to Bakkhus Taverna since it reopened after Hurricane Ike. The wait staff has changed many times over the years. The food has remained the of good quality and the manager, Lance, deserves high praise doing his very best to maintain the quality of food and service and that has not always been an easy task. On a past visit, we sat at a table for what we thought was a little too long without being noticed by the staff. We left. Out on the sidewalk near the intersection of 6th and Kipp Avenue, we heard Lance behind us. He had hurried out to stop us and ask us to return. We did. He acknowledged we'd been coming there a long time and, not without emotion, expressed his regrets for the service. It was not his fault. That general personal spirit and fortitude exemplified by Lance that day should not go unnoticed.

This place is overhyped by some who have given it good reviews on this thread. The staff is definitely friendly and attentive, but the food itself is not good at all. This is an Americanized Greek restaurant; not an authentic one. I ordered the veggie pita which was too greasy (for being vegetables), and the pita was too salty. My bf got the moussaka dish which was also greasy with a bad presentation in itself.

This was one of the best Gyros I have ever had. The pita was so fresh!!! They had local cuisine also and a good bar selection

Great food that is authentic to Greece. The gyros is the best in all of Galveston area and Clearlake area. The hummus is so creamy and delicious! Great beer and cocktails too

Fabulous find! You wont leave hungry. Everything was very fresh. Marinade for the meat was great. The wait staff was very attentive! We will be back on our next visit!

I’ve been here 4 times. Each time the wait staff has been overworked and thus slow, or indifferent and also slow. I’ve tried 4 different options on the menu and have been disappointed with them all. They’re not bad, just not good either. Of the 4 Mediterranean joints in the area we eat at, and this is my least favorite.

The weather is gorgeous so it’s a perfect time for outdoor eating and this place has a wonderful patio. The food is always consistent and they gave a wonderful weekend brunch menu. The Greek food is outstanding and I love the newly made over interior.
