WoW..WoW..can't express it enough! Our 1st time there from Round Rock/Hutto wont be the last. The food was delicious 😋 we had BBQ ribs, brisket, turkey was very tender, fried green tomatoes, fried green beans yummy! Mac cheese,Cole slaw, potato salad, pinto beans. Ordered peach cobbler to go. Our server Lisa was Very friendly, cheerful, answered all our questions super sweet! I didnt get the other lady name up front at the counter she was very nice as well. The place is Very Nice & makes u feel like home, clean, bathroom was even nice & clean like that Texas sink. Outside aww such cute goats get to feed them bread watch out there's a few that are lil bullies.. 😂. Glad to adventure out that way for BBQ after stopping at another BBQ place which was pricey that was pretty much sold out everything at 4 in the afternoon on Memorial weekend wasn't even greeted when we walked in so left that place glad we looked & experience BIG HOSS BBQ is the New Spot for us! We'll be back on a Sunday is German can't wait! Give Big Hoss BBQ a try you Won't be Disappointed...they have other things on the menu besides BBQ not pricey either! Yummy Yummy Eat Up! See Ya Soon!

Their catering department helped me feed 100+ people on short notice for a ceremony. The customer service is very accommodating. Affordable and they deliver on site! Would recommend to friends and family!

Was in town for a short visit, wish I could stay longer because of this restaurant! The food was outstanding and the management was extremely friendly. Thank you so much for the great time.

I went there on Friday because my job was having a event there. They served us macaroni, mash potatoes, brisket, salad, sausage. Well as soon as I hit the door to my house, I ended up throwing up and couldn't stop throwing up. It had sent me a trip to the ER to find out that I had food poisoning. I will never be eating at this place again.

Big Hoss BBQ is off the “beaten path,” but it’s worth the drive to give them a try. We went on a Friday night around 7 pm and the place was almost empty. The restaurant has a quaint (maybe cheesy?) old west theme on the inside walls with a combination of folding tables/chairs in the large open room and booths along the walls. The server was friendly and attentive.

We ordered the Fried Mozzarella Sticks as an appetizer. Pretty basic cheese sticks, about the same that you get from in a frozen bag from the store. We won’t get it again and will try one of their more interesting appetizers next time (hopefully something that they make themselves and not buy in a bag). For our main course, we had a Four Meat Combo Plate, Three Meat Combo Plate, and the Chicken Fried Steak. All the plates came with a choice of two sides. Let’s start with the star of the show
.the BBQ!
Sliced Brisket. Some BBQ places ask if you want lean or moist sliced brisket. We weren’t given a choice and the brisket on all the plates was definitely lean. It had a noticeable bark and a thin smoke ring. Meaty is the right word for it, but a little dry since there was very little fat. The brisket had good flavor and when paired with the provided BBQ sauce, was very good. Each plate had five half-slices of brisket.
Pork Spare Ribs. You get three to four ribs on the plate. The ribs were very meaty and the meat was firm and tender the way that I think ribs should be (not fall-off-the-bone) with a noticeable smoke ring. Very good.
Baby-Back Ribs. You get three to four ribs on the plate and they charge an extra $3.75 to get the baby back ribs. They were good, but since the combo plates are already $27.95 (3 meat) and $32.95 (4 meat), I don’t think they’re worth the extra cost. Stick with the pork spare ribs.
Pulled Pork. This was a small pile of overly-sauced pulled pork that was okay, but the sauce was over-powering and it wasn’t very appetizing. I’d skip the pulled pork and stick with the pork spare ribs and sliced brisket.
Jalapeño Sausage. You get five or six slices of sausage on the plate. This was good jalapeno sausage. It doesn’t have a smoked flavor, and it wasn’t grilled, but we still enjoyed it. I hope they make it in house but based on some of the other dishes, I’m not so sure. Either way, I’d get it again.
My wife got the Chicken Fried Steak (she tries it whenever it is on the menu). She got it with the gravy on the side, which is why it is bare in the photo. Based on the look, it appears that the chicken fried steak is not made in house (see photo). It was tender and the breading wasn’t overwhelming, but nothing to get too excited about. The gravy was good, and my wife asked for extra with her leftover to-go meal. The plate was supposed to come with Red Skin Mashed Potatoes and Whole Kernal Corn but came out with fries instead of the corn. The server quickly brought out a side of corn and let us keep the fries. If you like chicken fried steak, this won’t blow your socks off but it’s an okay option. My wife will get the BBQ next time. Last thing, I really liked the potato salad and cole slaw. The battered Texas fries were good, and the mac-n-cheese was okay.

BBQ is always expensive when eating out and Big Hoss is not far off what we expected for prices. I might be wrong, but it seems that Big Hoss relies on pre-made items to fill out their menu, but the BBQ is very good overall. I would recommend giving Big Hoss a try
you won’t be blown away, but it’s worth the trip. Plus, I like supporting the local restaurants and getting away from the big chain restaurants.

So I was always wondering how Big Boss barbque taste. I've been told it was very good so I decided to give it a try. I tried it out on Sat. July 27,2024. I ordered the 3 meat with 2 sides. My 3 meats were chopped brisket, ribs and turkey. The sides were green beans and ? salad. Well I know barbeque is not cheap but it wasn't much given for 3 meats and sides. The chopped brisket didn't have any flavor, the ribs also no flavor and it taste like they were boiled and the turkey well it's turkey it was just ok. The green beans taste like they came out of a can with no flavor . All I tasted was water. The potato salad was the best thing from the whole plate. I wasn't happy at all with this place. I gave it a try but that will be my last time eating there. I normally never buy barbque cause I'm never happy with what I get. I normally do my own barbque. So far Rudy's is the best barbque I have eaten in the Killeen,Harker Heights,Belton,Temple area. Again I wasn't very happy with the food.

First time, and I am already planning to go back. Loved the decor and atmosphere. If you sit in a four seat table, they are each painted and decorated with different places that are featured in an old western town. We were with a larger party and seated in the middle. Our server Alena was very kind and attentive. Based on the suggestion of those in my party, I ordered the large catfish plate with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. It did not disappoint. Catfish was fried perfectly, not too greasey, and fish was still moist. Fries and coleslaw were both good as well.

BRISKET QUESADILLAS!!! We no longer live in Texas and we still talk about this place. So does my mom who visited and had it twice. I still hear about it from her. You won't regret this hidden gem. We did take out and dine-in. The place was quiet, clean, and cool temp. If you are looking for noise, music, and loud people, this wasn't the place. Loved the people and the goats!!!! Tons of parking, never an issue.

*I'm pretty particular about textures and I never had something that made me spit my food out. Perfectly cooked, no grissle.

Brisket Quesadillas were huge. One could easily be two meals unless you're indulging - which is easy with these.
