Petty's BBQ in Killeen, Texas!

Man, i wanted to love this place. We’ve been on a roadtrip for the whole day and all we could think about was bbq. sadly (and even more sad now, Young’s BBQ was closed) so we had to find a new spot. We found Pettys in Killeen and had semi high hopes because of the 900 reviews and pretty good food on their website.

what a disappointment. we walked in and no one was in there. the workers didn’t greet us. we stood at the counter for about 6 minutes and this sad older man comes and as bluntly as possible asked us for the order.

i ordered a Combo with brisket and sausage with some sides of pinto beans and green beans. for 21 dollars. my dad got a mild sausage with cucumber kimchi (weird) and potato salad.

now as a texan i’ve grown custom to good barbecue. we barbecue at home. our neighbors barbecue. we live right next to hutchins, so we KNOW good barbecue. this doesn’t even come close to what i would qualify as “good”.

this was a sad step up from what a middle school cafeteria would call barbecue. i received sad thin slices of unseasoned brisket. cardboard thin. the sausage tasted like an attempt at what a person who’s never tasted spicy sausage thought it would taste like. all of the food was lukewarm. the greens and pinto beans were decent, but my mom can make better.

it was really a disgrace to texas barbecue. if a person from the north came and that was their first impression of barbecue, let me tell you they would run back to their little mountain town crying because wow, that was awful. we got the worst barbecue in all of texas. genuinely.

as i’m driving home the one thing i’m thinking is “i hope no one ever comes here”. sorry, but it’s true.

The portions are healthy I cam order a 1 meat combo and eat til I'm full and have left overs that will fill me up again. They are fast and friendly. I luv eating in.

My mom and my auntie was going to buy food from this place and one of the employees see them walking towards the door and lock in it their face? It was just straight up rude and disrespectful.

Petty’s bbq makes the best BBQ I’ve ever tasted. Also the French fries are perfect, what bbq place has perfect French fries?! They even have mango habanero wings. Everyone reading this needs to go here asap.

Had a great experience with pettys bbq everyone was helpful in telling me what i might need for family reunion food was excellent and ready on time even when i had to add a request...it was no problem or inconvience to them staff was friendly and helpful..thank you so much to pettys and ms maria...thank you all God bless you all

Decided to give them another try for the 3rd time and just say ,.I should have minded my business 😩 brisket sandwich hard and overcooked. Brisket taste like it's old and not fresh. Totally a WASTE of money.🥲
