It was my first time here while visiting Houston and I was so impressed!!! I ordered the fire in the hole burger, it was extremely delicious!!! The food is never frozen and the taste shows that to be true. The ingredients definitely consist of Love which is always a necessary ingredient. The atmosphere has a very homey feel to it. It is family owned and I can tell they have passion in their kitchen. Thank you so much for having me and for the outstanding experience!!!

The chicken fried steak was noticeably a hand battered steak, not a frozen mass produced steak like so many other restaurants sell. The green beans were amazing with chunks of potato mixed in.
3rd time we have shown up and the doors are locked. I even called today at 1:00pm, spoke to someone to make sure they would be open for dinner. The lady assured me they were open until 8:00pm. We arrived with dinner guests at 5:30, the door is locked and no one answered the phone.Please note 5 other vehicles showed up at the same time. We all took our business elsewhere.

I have eaten at the Wooden Spoon several times and every time I get service with a smile very cozy and comfortable and the dessert oh my God the dessert is just to die for.
The staff was pleasant, and the food was really good.

The name “The Wooden Spoon” made me think of family home cooking before I knew what they offered and I was not disappointed. Their menu options were divided by appetizers, handhelds, burgers, entrees, wraps, and desserts. Needless to say, if you have an appetite you won’t have difficulty finding exactly what you crave. The fried food is hand breaded which didn’t mean much to me until I was served. The breading is not hard and greasy, but is light, dry, and flavorful. I’d suggest the white gravy with the fried chicken. The assortment of cheesecakes, pies, cakes, and cobbler is massive and definitely worth the cheat day treat. To top it off, the staff is incredibly courageous and kind. I saw several waitresses, as well as the owner, being greeted by customers at their arrival. This made me think of a family atmosphere where relationships are just as important as business. Great job! I’ll definitely be back.

The food and service was absolutely amazing! Our waitress recommended the chicken fried steak or the shrimp meal. We ended ordering both, but the shrimp was phenomenal. We will definitely be going back!
